A Drifter (poem)

Updated on August 8, 2013

Through veils of tales and slumbers unknown

They stir with their eyes turned toward me

Each vision holds somebody new

A drifter of some other time

-

They call and fall through fathoms they stroll

Each feasting on destiny’s plate

Expecting some light which will free

A shadow which once was their soul

-

I run toward sun their stares to escape

As in my heart there coursed a truth

These denizens lost to their streets

Are following something they knew

-

Dismayed I prayed as dawn made me blind

Yet I felt each eye holding me

What is it you want me to do

What air do you want me to breathe

-

The tears of years which fell from up above

Would stir me from the darkness of a dream

And from this veil a vision came to me

A drifter of some other time

      Haunting and chilling........

The music is perfectly accompanied to the darkness of the poem.

I love this, Martin. I had to read it twice to really grasp the depth of your words. The music fits the mood of the poem perfectly. Nice job!
