Abel and Fiona

Updated on February 21, 2011

Abel and Fiona were friends and their relationship was simply a professional one because Fiona heads the sales and marketing department of the company while Abel was one of the company’s marketing agents, he was a good looking young man and has great prospects in the company but that wasn’t enough to win Fiona’s heart besides he was much younger than her. However, she didn’t want other directors to look down on her and as well was avoiding office scandal.

He tried so many times to have a date with her but she turned down his entire request but at a time began to develop feelings for the good looking young man which almost every lady in the office talked about though Fiona had good reasons why she didn’t want to go into a relationship with him because she was a divorcee, her husband left her ten years back because of her infidelity, she has tubal infection, a condition in women which makes them infertile so she decided to rather be alone after the rough divorce she had with her husband than allow any other man come into her life and at the end leave her in pains but the effects in Abel was strong enough to change her mind though she made it clear to him that nothing serious would be of their relationship so they were simply bed mates.

Their relationship was highly secretive and they avoided been spotted together and were just co-workers in the office. Abel was a caring young man who meant good, he was honest and though Fiona considered their relationship simply platoon yet he cared so much about her and once told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her but she objected to it because Abel was the kind of man who loved kids and she can’t give him one but their relationship kept blooming day by day and night after night. At a point, she realized that she was gaining more weight because she was a steady fifty kilo lady who always minded her diets but she added extra two kilo within months of dating Abel perhaps that was one good thing about being happy she thought.

“There is nothing better than happiness” they say and Fiona proved it to be true as she continued gaining weight but sometime in mid August, she realized that she was been dizzy everyday and always felt weak, she even slept off in many occasions at work and Abel also became concerned at the sudden weight gain so he advised her to see a doctor but she felt that it was unnecessary because the changes in her was all about the happiness Abel gave her but the next two months sent her running to her doctor because her circle came twice in each month and the last period lasted for twelve days so it was obvious that she was sick, she felt that it might be a kind of cancer because she smokes but all the tests done on her came out negative and according to the doctor, there was no sign of cancer in her system though she was given a medication to control and normalize her circle but the next month sent her back to her doctor because her circle sized, she also developed a hectic chest pain and there were changes in her physique.

Her entire body became a bit swollen and the pains in her nipples were unbearable, she even told Abel that she feels that it might be cancer and this worried Abel because he had developed a strong bond with her so he decided to accompany her to the hospital but she refused because she didn’t want anyone to see them together. The doctor knew instantly that something was wrong with her the moment she saw her that morning, she asked her if she had been sleeping with someone unprotected and that question sent glittering fears into her head because she had been doing everything with Abel, she knew that there was no way she would hide anything from her personal doctor so she told her everything about Abel and was crying while narrating how it all began perhaps it might be Aids she thought but her doctor had a different opinion so her next question was like a puzzle to Fiona who felt that her doctor might be in sane because she was one of the doctors that proved her infertile and is the same one steering at her and suggesting a pregnancy test so she questioned the option of having a pregnancy test since she was infertile but later agreed to have one because she was desperate and confused at the changes in her and as well her new eating habit.

The doctor quickly had her urine sample tested and to everyone’s greatest surprise, the result was positive and that led to a thorough ultra sound which showed not just a sign of a fetus but a well developed six months old baby, the situation was like a miracle to Fiona who began singing praises to God and instantly called Abel to break the news to him. He left work that day and went straight to the super market and bought a baby bed then drove to Fiona’s residence, she embraced him when he came into the house and they both held each other’s hand for a while then Abel did a marvelous moon walk, looked at her and told her that the world would hear about them very soon because their secret had been blown but who cares about what people might say she responded after all everything they would say would simply tell of God’s miracle therefore it doesn’t matter if the father to be is 25years and mother to be 38years. All that matters to her according to Fiona was that she was going to be a mother.

One sweet thing in this world is the joy of motherhood and as of Fiona, she called it Miracle.
