She was a wonderful, unexpected gift-I would gladly accept again.
Even when you are sour, you are an angel to me
With a smile that can light up the world,
It is your giggle of mischief-which I truly adore.
There isn’t a thing I can imagine or a thing I could say,
That can describe all the gifts you bring every moment of everyday.
Although you were not planned,
You’re the farthest thing from a mistake.
If I had the choice to do it again-it would be a decision I would always make.
You’re bigger than the rest.
Or at least that is what you think.
Playing dress up with high heals as long as they’re pink.
I think back at the difficult pregnancy, before you arrived.
Even then I didn’t worry, because I already knew my little girl would have a strong will to survive.
You walk with purpose, and determination, everywhere you go.
But at thirty inches tall, you will have to postpone taking over the world.
You love your big brother,
You’re always right by his side.
And as funny as it is- you are always ready to have words with anyone you decide to dislike.
Although we don’t always know what exactly you have said,
Your stance tells it all- as you throw your arms up and over your head.
You put your hand out and look whomever in the eye,
And say I’ll be back later-then turn back around to blow them kisses goodbye.
I named you Abigail Grace- Abby for short.
After my favorite Album Abby Road by The Beatles-a masterpiece of my sorts.
Your middle name is Grace, because I prayed to God to help your little lungs grow.
I knew my prayers were heard, when you arrived screaming, with ten fingers and ten beautiful little toes.
You are everything right, and everything sweet-
Even when you’re sour, you’re an angel to me.
Such a little girl with so much to give.
But let me tell you a secret my child,
You’ve given me some of the greatest reasons to live.
