Absorbing Words Cursed

Updated on March 13, 2014

An Evening Walk

He was just a tired old man,

out for an evening walk,

he was alone, but sometimes he’d talk,

sometimes about life,

but mostly about his wife,

several years back, a sickness took her,

there was a young teenage girl on the street,

dressed like a Times Square hooker,

tattoos on her ankles and feet,

nasty images and in such poor taste,

a sad smile formed on the old man’s face,

she was embarrassed and that he knew,

then suddenly a gang of thugs headed toward her

there was no telling what they would do,

a huddle had formed,

encircling the young teen,

almost like the calm meeting the storm,

and it was the beginning to a horrific scene,

he wanted to yell stop,

but he was too afraid,

as they ripped her flesh tone tube-top,

and stripped away her black miniskirt,

he knew if he got involved he couldn’t win,

but the young teen needed his help

so he ran toward her and elbowed his way in,

after flailing his fists,

and absorbing words cursed,

the circle dispersed,

the gang ran away

and everything around him was clear,

he fought off thugs in the midst of fear,

then he felt his face become flushed,

his emotions rushed,

the teenage girl shoved a knife into his chest,

eyes closed, she did her best,

as death took over and did the rest.
