Across a Thousand Smiles

Updated on May 9, 2010

She threw me a look of a thousand smiles.
A wind swept glance beckons me
across the sea and over the mountain
and dares me to take an adventure.

I cry a sense only felt in the eyes pit.
I say, “May I have the next dance.”
We sit in the moonlight
reflecting in a serenade filled
path reflected across the water.

She said, “Take my hand
I offer you the mystery
of a life unknown”
Chance is like looking
into a mirror
yet it wont break if I smile.

I wipe the tear and
blurred light enters as
her hair lightly blows in the wind
yet I can not see the face.

The sound is so sweet.
It goes straight to my soul
because music is not tense.
It is beguiling.

Again I sit here and watch the sun
go over the mountain
and paint the bay maroon.
The wind blows coolly
with a spray in its breath.

A melancholy mood
pulls on more tear.
that hangs there
suspended in a moment of time
then disappears in the sea.

I smile back.
