Addressing the Mirror

Updated on November 22, 2010

Look what you did...

You did it now...

He's just like you though less hardened still...

hard to move and hard to yield...

your little one is in your shoes...

yielding to demons, each way he turns...

demons you fain oblivious to....

past now present, unavoidable...

reoccurring the problems...

increases and emboldened...

problems in nature that nature despises...

nature of heart that is uncompromising...

sometimes requires correction...

Correction that is self flogging...

requiring things exquisitely terrible....

necessities you wished not to do...

yet in doing them you are forced to love....

in ways you could not love yourself...

though loving yourself in miniature hurts...

Wounding in places that seems not to heal...

Places where demons play not unleashed...

Jesting at whether you surpass who you have replaced...

Out doing the man who was in your place...

Your only defense against feelings unyielding...

Feelings now only slightly afield....

Now that you're faced with a littler self an none else...

The love that you return when you face yourself...

All that stands between you and the dark.

I have had a few of those myself. In the process of becoming what I am I have had to be willing to give them all up though. I have only kept the ones that I can laugh at while they are chained at my abeyance.

We all have "little demons" within...sometimes they help us to survive...and sometimes you need to keep them alive...until you are stronger. It's an interesting take.

I imagine one can silence the demons once you have no more purpose to keep company with them and in such an end banish them or cause that someone else should do it.

It sounds very complicated and confusing. I guess life can be like that sometimes.

Is there a way to silence the demons?
