Against the Wall - A Love Poem

Updated on March 20, 2014

For a moment, I thought there was something

Fighting it hard, I just could not resist

Holding onto your hands, while taken

By the deceitful, softness of your kiss

With my back against the wall, literally

Like a feeling, I have felt so many times

Your body lies against me, only

To remind me, you never really were mine

Pouring passion into my ear, so beautifully

Plays a melody drowning within itself

It is my heart withstanding the sinking

Inside I cry, never helping myself, what else?

I am my worst enemy, this I know

Running your fingers through my tresses

Every strand falls quickly, onto my shoulders

Gently, knowing what a mess this is

Into my eyes, you look right through me

With a strong, sincere, blinding light of cheat

Cold and empty promises, failed

While I stand basking in hell heat

For a moment, why couldn’t there be something?

Your lips be honest, not daggers full of pain

To know that you really want me

True love, pumping through your veins

How I crumble for sweet temptation

You pull me closer, although leaving me alone

Bringing me back to that familiar place

Without you, and the one I’ve always known

When you leave me, you’ll look worn

Handsome, honest, yet underneath conniving

Tears will fall to the floor, as I ask myself

What’s the sense in even trying?

For the moment, I am totally lost

Playing the fool, watch me fall apart

Oh how I am addicted to you, so saddened

The ruler of my hollow, aching heart

Wow! Great poem, Angoliver. I really like the sensuality in it as well as the mixed emotions of it all. Another winner!
