Before I Really Thought

I thought I saw an angel in your eyes

I thought I heard a ballad in your voice

I thought of you while watching morning skies

I thought I had a reason to rejoice

Although my days were empty I could cope

Although I still had worries I was eased

Although I was uncertain I had hope

Although my heart's been hurting I was pleased

I fell in love before I really thought

But now through foolish eyes I see the truth

Of all the many things that I've been taught

I've never learned this lesson from my youth

Unspoken love however it may seem

Is not enough on which to build a dream
