Albatross, a poem

Updated on May 1, 2010

An albatross wise, I am

Like a poet on a hill,

Preening my strong-as-air feathers

With sea-hardened bill.

-- A devastated wasteland

A thousand minutes long

The vacant field of memory

That echoes empty song --

I am a child of twilight

With its deep dark vale of fears,

Drenching the shadows evermore

With sugary drops of tears.

Sleep never slips

In the seat next to mine,

Nor does it come

In a white narrow line.

-- Periwinkle pleasures

A Bostonian moon --

Summertide bends

And is over too soon.

What do you seek…

But to live through the days

And the days into nights…

Nice poem, Rose West. Hope you become a 100pointer and a featured hubber soon.

Thanks, keiranthapa, that's really nice of you to say that. Funny how the hubber score wavers... I've been busy with other things lately and haven't been able to participate that much.

Better and better, every poem of yours I read! So much to contemplate, and you put into words things that have been going through my head but never settling there until now.
