Maurice Bishop, a powerful, spoken word Poet currently serving in the United States Army. Published Author & Motivational Speaker.

I’m not on my time to shine with these poetic flows of mines.

But to spit rhymes and present you a question to your mind.

When you hear the word marriage, what does it mean?

I asked because it seems like it’s a man nightmare but a woman’s dream.

Where the grass is always green and living life like a queen,

But a man knows it’s a journey to the unseen where commitment is stretched to the extreme.

Marriage symbolizes a union between husband and wife.

A vow made to each other; including Jesus Christ.

The ring you wear on your left hand not your right is such an expensive price,

Because day and night you have to love each other with all your might.

In sickness and in health, till death do us apart, so you’re in it for life.

It doesn’t matter how many times you argued and fight.

Agree or disagree, likes or dislikes.

Care or not, wrong or right.

Christ loved us first, so you have to view love with his sight.

Divorce is not an option, so you have to be fully in it.

This is not a boyfriend, girlfriend type of love so pause for a minute.

Because marriage love is a deeper love and commitment.

Holy, pure, and innocent when intimate when soul ties form as one instrument.

This love becomes more significant because vows were made to a man that’s Infinite,

And the proof of evidence is signed in a black and white certificate.

So listen quick! Marriage is not a self thing but a partner thing.

It’s 50/50, so there shouldn’t be no fight for power things.

If you have kids, it’s a mother and father thing.

Just love each other and communicate and get pass the harder things.

But please believe me, marriage not easy,

Like running a comb through a hair that’s peazy.

Marriage is what you make it but you have to put some work in.

Speak with love instead of cursing.

When you start facing temptations Satan lurking so don’t be flirting.

Married folks business is their business so no need for a third person,

Because family, friends, and single folks will keep chirping and leave your marriage swerving,

And if you keep letting them in, then your marriage will be in a hearse for certain.

Another great read and a great listen too! It's nice to be able to first read it as I'd imagine it should be read and then to watch you perform it as you intended it. Great job!
