All I See Is A Sheet Of Ice

Updated on December 31, 2013

Be Very Careful

Pull out the rock salt and shake

On the stairs and over the walk way

Now we can step without falling

How many times have we taken a walk ?

Not once giving it a thought

Keeping our balance has always been easy

At least since we were young

We would even challenge ourselves by walking on our toes

Holding out our arms out to act like wings

When we got bored or to make it a little harder

We walked backwards without even looking

Never worried if we would fall

Because we know from past experience we will get up

Shake ourselves off

Just a blast from the past reliving old memories

That brought a smile to my face

Even holding a piece of ice was so meaningful and so much fun

It was not just nice but cool

While the U.S. is getting pounded with the cold and snow and ice we remain in gray weather and even a snow storm would be welcome to bring in white brightness. This reminded me of the words to a song - slip sliding away...

Michael-Milec Amazing how we can make it through life through many trials and tribulations. We are so blessed. Thank you for commenting when you find the time. It is always nice to hear from you.

Thank you my friend, my experience has occured years back, since that I'm very, very extremely very careful; refusing even to walk if the surface is cowerd by snow only. Now being well fixed, don't have any problem , except can't play soccer, tennis , or walking on the roof..

Michael-Milec I hope you are feeling better. I have a friend that fractured his ankle a few weeks ago when he slipped on ice. Thank you for reading and sharing. Have a safe and happy New Year.

      Hi dream-on.

Right on! Wise words. It took less than 1/4 of a sec. and my body has hit the snow covered patch of ice and my leg stopped responding. The one of worst helplessness feeling is not having control over your own limb. Ouch. At certain age a broken bone isn't fun anymore.

      Voted interesting.

Be careful, be safe, t a k e time to stay inside when, as we have now a snow storm with 0F.

shanmarie Many times in my life I can't love today unless I think back to many childhood memories I enjoyed along the way. They may be long gone and I have changed so much since then. I don't want to forget how great it was just to be a kid again. Thank you for reading and commenting. Happy New Year to you and may you be blessed with a wonderful year.

I like the lightness of this one! Brings back many memories of falling on ice and of goofing around while walking. :)
