^^Beware My Name^^

The dreams, the nightmares, they hound me whilst I sleep. The torment, the pain, it burrows way down deep… deep, deep down within the soul I’ve been destined not to have. The black hole I have been so cursed, so unfortunate to possess.

The blood lust. Can I escape it?

Can I crawl into a hole, can I break it?

Can I break the curse, can I fake it?

Can I fake my innocence? Will I make it?

Alorella, what a beautiful name. Dotingly given, meant to tame. Meant to tame this heart so black. Meant to give the love I lack.

Alorella means sweet song in our native tongue. But Alorella is a name never to be sung.

For those that sing of me will learn, despite my redemption, the darkness, I yearn. This is why I begin my life’s tale in rhyme. It helps me express the hurt I feel inside.

Alorella—I am the fostered daughter of the kind Villie-Tora.

Alorella—sister of Dravel and of Sydonia.

Alorella—master of deceit and of betrayal.

Alorella—trapped, I am slave to my own portrayal.

Why did the fates deal me this hand? I’ll never be able to understand. Would I have been better off raised by a monster, not risking hurting those I care about? Or is it best to remain with my dear Villie-Tora, the woman who nurtured me, who loves me without a doubt?

Seeing that I AM a monster, it would have been better raised by one.

Now, I sit here in the rain wanting nothing more than to run. To run as far as I could, where no one can find me. No monster, no mother, neither death, nor life. Far away into the abyss where I’ll cease to exist. Oh what a thrilling thought, I just can’t resist. That’s just what I want, that’s just what I’ll do.

My story is one you simply must hear, but my story is one that you must beware.

.........Beware my name!

End Note

As noted in the title, this is the prelude to a story in the making. The story, Alorella: Beware My Name", may or may not be written in my characters' point of view. The prelude is in Alorella's point of view but I may switch to 3rd person for the rest of the story.

The story takes in the Paraome Realm (magical realm), specifically in the Kingdon of Nacora. The time period is the 17th century but in the Paraome Realm, some things are more congruent to the Medieval Times.

Alorella struggles against her dark nature, in constant fear of hurting her family.

I posted this Prelude as an "experiment" to see the responses and the feedback I will receive. If all goes well, I would continue here on HubPages. It all depends on several factors, mainly the opinion of my readers. Please answer the poll and comment.

Thank you!

Wow, LuenisMidnight, thanks for stopping by and writing such a wonderful comment! I love that picture! You should thank the artist at DeviantART. He or she is awesome.

This story will be on hold for a while until I can complete Thespian Lane but I hope my readers will like it once I do start writing and posting it on HP.

      Thanks again!

You had me at the first sentence of this story. You must continue this!!! The way you described the character was amazingly beautiful. I love it when words start to play in my head and something like this just comes out in the end.

The picture is just way too perfect to be true! The way that the eyes are so intense...you only have to wonder what goes on in her dark mind. And actually art is what got me into writing lols. You will always find the time you need to write.

Haha, you and Allora are both trying to catch up on TL. And yes you ARE a good guesser. :)

"We are awesome!" haha. I love it, AC! Yes, I'm trying to finish TL first. Good guess.

It's probably a great idea to only work on one. I say, write about this when you are inspired, but push to finish Thespian Lane (unless you get stuck or need a break of course). This makes the most sense to me, since you started TL first, and it is probably close to being finished. Right?

And of course we can both do it! We are awesome!

Haha, thanks, Allora. You're very encouraging. I think one of these serials will have to wait until another is done. I don't know which yet.

Hi, Allora. I'm glad I've sparked your interest. Thanks for commenting.

P.S. notice the similarities between you and my character's name? (wink wink) :D haha

It's a really interesting start! It brings many questions to mind such as, why does she want the darkness so much? What makes her bad? :) Ya I'll be back, you can count on it.

Wow, thanks everyone for your feedback! Now I find myself having to find a way to balance between the rest of Thespian lane, Sapphire's stories and now Alorella! Yikes! I better get to work this summer before school starts again!

~CM, your encouragement is much welcomed and appreciated. I'm glad you're willing to journey with me.

~AC, you're absolutely right. I always FIND time somehow to write so... yes, I can do it! As can you! :)

~drbj and SilverGenes, I worked HARD to find the perfect picture, haha. So I'm glad you loved the graphic. Thanks to the artist at DeviantART.com.

~Dallas, an ounce of inspiration sure goes a long way. I hope it goes long enough to end the unwritten story strong. haha. Thanks!!!

I know what you mean, K Alto,

I hope I still have time to write when school starts. I have to teach this year! ARG! If I end up too busy to work on my fantasy, I will truly be in a bad mood. But I've always found time somehow, even when I was student teaching and in way over my head, or doing my methods block of 7 intense teaching classes, I still found time to write. I think you can too!

      Glad I make you laugh,

      ~AC

Hey K, I have had experience like you not knowing what to expect next while writing the story. The anticipation is wonderful, is it not? Keep exploring those creative juices

and enjoy the story as it enfolds. I know I will!

I can't imagine giving up on writing either, AC. During the school year I'm attached to my piano at the hip but this summer, I'm attached to my computer, hehe. I'm afraid that when I return to classes I won't be able to write.

It's very distracting when inspiration randomly hits during the school year.

Funny comment about your art. I just got that joke. HAHA.

I dabbled in art a bit too, just enough to know that I'd better not give up on writing. LOL

Don't you love when inspiration hits like that? Those are the moments when writing truly exhilarates me. It never happens when you expect, and not nearly as often as you'd like, but when it does, I can't imagine ever giving up on writing....

Thanks for reading my prelude so quickly. I just posted it! Haha. I'm not good at poetry either actually. It's just that I was relaxing in my living room like at 4 AM one day (don't ask) and the words randomly started coming to my mind. It was crazy.

I grabbed a notebook and a pen and started writing as fast as I could. And thus: Alorella was born! hehe.

I'm glad you liked that name. It just came to me. :)

I love DeviantART. My friend introduced me to post some of my artwork up there but when I saw other people's work I thought: uh-uh, I'll keep MY artwork private, thank you very much. (I'm not as good as the others). :( It's okay though. I prefer writing.

      Thanks for commenting!

      K Alto,

This has really piqued my interest. Poetry is one of those things that is truly spectacular to me, especially since I fail miserably at it. (teehee) You are by far the most intriguing poet I have ever met, and I have never said that to anyone. The way you have introduced Allorella's (love the name by the way) inner conflict has me holding my breath for more. But do take your time and put all of your awesome gift into this story. It will be great.

Also, the picture is just fantastic! Don't you love deviant art?
