Solitary

Confinement.

Bitter

I Resign.

Shackled and chained

Alone I sit

Before a God

Nary kindred soul

This lonely exsistence

Bearing life's toll.

Through space and time

Ever looking back

A wall of regret

With eyes of mine

Those wasted years

I do pine.

In the end if I can find

A way to forgive

Myself

And Love

I know

Now

Tis all that ever mattered.

“Writing is a solitary occupation. Family, friends, and society are the natural enemies of the writer. He must be alone, uninterrupted, and slightly savage if he is to sustain and complete an undertaking.”

Hi Ziyena, this is a great poem, a reflection of your inner self. We shouldn't let ourselves stuck in past, but we should appreciate it and learn from it, so that we can build our present and future. Voted up and awesome.

What's done is done. No regrets can change the past. Great theme and expression.

Forgiving oneself is a big key to happiness. Each day is new, each thought has grown from experience, each challenge is easier to meet whether big or small. Seize the day, it's the only one you get today. Fine poem, well expressed. Read it over regularly, it is you speaking to you.

    You're so brutally honest.

    Thanks for that.

Michael, to be honest with you I've never written any form of poetry in my life. Even still I've known the ability has always been there because an editor who once read my historical romance manuscript told me that my writing was very poetic. I figured I'd give it try. There's something about writing this way that releases alot of pent up feelings ... I like it.

...and one day, you're old and the doors finally slam shut, at least, to anything that could interest you.

...such as love, the only thing that ever mattered, whatever its components.

Thanks Barnsey and Billybuc ... I'm not a poet, but I try. Given my crazy life experiences, I think I'm full of all kinds of prose :)
