Alpha (Poetry by GalaxyRat)

Updated on June 10, 2017

GalaxyRat is fond of rats and writing. And dark poetry. She knows that people don't like all these things together... but who cares?

Disheartening is the silence of the wolves,

Their howls are absent.

Far in the mountains, their pelts with snow,

They are crowded around a limp figure,

They've never felt this low.

Now the cries are finally uttered,

Mourning wails,

But, one by one, each goes.

Only one remains,

Still howling a song to the moon.

His alpha is on the ground.

Padding off,

the mourning halts,

And the wind is yet again undisturbed by sound.

Disheartening is the silence of the wolves,

They don't cry or howl anymore, but at least that's what they tell you,

They carry on, facing life without a frown.

The truth is their silence is due to the fact we have chased them out,

The silence is worth more than their howls,

And just because they were weak,

We targeted them, so one by one, they fell away,

because their emotion was scorned.

Shoutout to...

John Hansen! His poem Shadows of Grey- One of the Pack (https://hubpages.com/literature/Shadows-of-Grey-One-of-the-Pack) inspired this poem. Thanks John! :)

It is? LOL, I should check the pics I use before I use them! "Great minds think alike", for sure, Tamara!

Poignant and beautiful. Your wolf pic is the same as on one of my poems! We think alike!
