Am I Not Enough?!

Updated on May 22, 2012

Texting and calling and letters of love

Cuddling and puddling and loads of mud

Don’t you even realize that sometimes it is tough

For you and your love, am I not enough?

Cards and roses and every flitter-flatter

Every time me quiet, just your chitter chatter

Are dumb not to see, your voice sometimes rough

For you and your life, am I not enough?

Fretting and irritating, unwanted stuff

All your once promises, seem like bluff

Lost in wants of time, need and desires

For your soul and heart , am I not enough

Is closeness bound, by the proximity of touch

Your love is so defined! Limited as such

Your beauty so material! Appreciating is tough

For your smiles my dear love, Am I not enough?!

HI Pearl! SO nice to see you :)

Sometimes... the question indeed arises whether to stay for the sake of love and get destroyed all the more.. or move ahead and search your soul... tough decision to make.. but In the end.. moving ahead and letting go is the better option...

Thank you for the words of wisdom and truth

Nice work Rahul... being at 6s and 7s often means the parties are not in any respect genuinely suited. Aren't we therefore lucky that other pets exist? Don't get me wrong, I too have written about having lived through this intensely destructive style of 'relationship'- Hahaha but at least with a pet, there is an ability to 'train' them!

Thanks for reading my work and sharing yours.. take care.

      Hi Stess!

It certainly has both male and female perspectives! Insecurity and mistrust are the root causes for such behavior..

Practically speaking.. such people have a fear of losing some one and that is so intense that it drives them off to crazy proportions of misunderstanding, inferiority complex and insecurities :)

Rahul, Such an interesting question, and it has both male and female perspectives. This question reminds me of a number of scenarios I've seen in which insecurity was expressed instead of trust or in which understandings of the meaning of commitment were incomplete. It's about boundaries and about how and to what extent they should be defined. With your talent as an explorer of life, you either could have experienced these feelings yourself or you could be exploring this multi-faceted question. Either way the poem has a real feel to it, with your trademark depth. Well done.

Rahul, yours is a wonderful examination of how doubt can inflict itself in a loving relationship. Doubt expressed in the need for constant contact, constant conversation and constant reassurances and never able to rest in the simple confidence of the love being received.

The superficial, material orientated partner is portrayed through the words "flitter, flatter", "chitter, chatter", wanting, wanting always wanting, but not loving in return. You convey so much in your words, Ruhal, your poems, even the sad ones, are a joy to read. My votes and best wishes to you, my friend.

rahul....I believe we've all asked this question at one point or another during our life....it stems from our confusion and doubt, I think. Usually, we come to learn it is unwarranted.

If you give your all....and it's not enough....perhaps the receiver is greedy and unappreciative?

A powerful conviction as true love is often hampered with suspicions, rejections and intense drama. I use to wonder as a young man if I was often enough for some of my girlfriends. I found out that a women's needs are quite different than us men, so the best we could do is be attentive and listen:-)) Voted UP and awesome my talented scribe. All buttons pressed except funny.
