America Calling
Something is Wrong
This Poem was inspired by Poetvix
America called me, she wanted to know
what happened to her Country, where did it go
she doesn't recognize it, it has really changed
she remembers when it was her home on the range
the Star Spangled Banner where does it fly
did somebody kill it or did it just die
Is America broken ? - I heard her say
why are the children scared to come out and play?
Many Businesses aren't hiring, is this true
due to the fact, they don't make revenue
Something is wrong with this land of mine
Have I made my phone call, just in time ?
my credit is bad, the money is tight
something's wrong in America, nothing is right
Unemployment is high, my people want to work
they just want jobs, even without the perks
my people are hurting, I feel their pain
politicians speak lies, their lies fall like rain
The Statue of Liberty, her flame is low
Gasoline is too high, why is this so ?
there is only one bright spot that she found
if we start now, we can turn it around
she said to me, right after this call
you must spread the word to one and all
together we stand, divided we fall
So PoetVixen, keep up the good work
lets clean house now, and get rid of these jerks
if we band together and we all unite
we can still lift up America
lift her up out of this dark night
and if America, must do what she must do
Very soon America, will be calling you too.
