Rebirth of a Nation

Updated on November 29, 2015

In 1776 a mighty nation was born,

Bringing forth a terrible revolutionary war,

Tired of being ruled by a king in a foreign land,

Our ancestors took up arms and made a stand,

Winning our independence from the British crown,

And giving birth to the USA on this hallowed ground,

A nation to be built on the dreams of common men,

Who have defended her honor time and time again,

A place where all were created equal and could have a voice,

Where even the lowest of men could have a choice,

We have endured a terrible war between brothers,

Two disastrous world wars and so many others,

Yet we emerged stronger than we ever dreamed,

The USA was destined for greatness it seemed,

What has happened since this nation grew up,

The government has grown more powerful and corrupt,

Our people have become lazy and complacent,

Willing sheep led to the slaughter by our own government,

Our rights traded for cash and government handouts,

Soft whispers have replaced our once mighty shouts,

We so willingly give away what our family members bled for,

I really don’t recognize this country anymore,

What happened to that proud American spirit,

Which allowed us to reach far beyond our limit,

Speak up don’t be afraid to let your voice be heard,

Let it all out and don’t hold back a single word,

We need to remember who the government works for,

And stop letting them push us around anymore,

Stand up and fight for the greatest nation on this earth,

Give it all you have and hold on for all you are worth,

We can be that great nation we were in the past,

But it’s going to take all of us and we must act fast.

I find it extremely sad that most Americans do not realize what a gift it is to live in a country where we have the power to choose who governs. They have forgotten and shamed the lives that were sacrificed to protect these rights when they just roll over and allow our rights to be trampled. They are too much in a hurry to get home watch these fake "reality" shows.

      Thanks for the great feedback!
