An Alzheimer's View

Updated on September 5, 2010

Fresh as a spring breeze

Curves smooth and nice

Beauty my eyes can see

I sit warm and free

Sharing with you

Breath

Heartbeats

Memories

Smiles

Kisses

As if for the first time

Everytime

Slumbering in the warm sun

Breathing in fresh air

Never to know when the

Last breath may be

Now confined to this wheelchair

Depending on those who care

She folds her hands in Prayer.

Back yard where my Mother Stays

Polly...sorry to hear that and I do know it must have been so difficult...I am close and see her every other day without fail and yes we do exercise her and she can put weight/stand as tolerated. but everything else we tried she doesn't understand and so a walker is out , the wheelcahir is top line/Cadillac style and she loves it.

I can take her out side covered up and we walk all around...she loves that but before she wouldn't go cause she said she was cold, any breeze she thinks she is cold.

I have been with her now for 4 years and can see her spirit and love and determination, yet she doesn't remember me or 5 minutes ago...Thank you for your support I really need it sometimes ...Today was a good day...:O) Hugs G-Ma

Well my mother never walked again and they put her in therapy but no one would do any therapy so her feet got froze, turned in I guess you would say but my mother-in-law broke both hips and had pins and she could go, and good! Make sure they don't wait too long on therapy, if I had been near enough to my mom then I would have at least bent her knees or done something to have kept her with a chance to walk. No don't say never, please, if you are close enough to help you can save her all my mom went through the last 18 months or more. Of course I know you can't do anything until her real doctor tells you it is Ok and certainly someone could show you how not to hurt her. If you or some of your family are willing to do it they will tell you how. Don't leave it up to them. I am so sorry for her and you.
