An Easter Flop

Updated on March 31, 2013

One Bunny To Slow

Every year children alll over the world know about the Easter Bunny

This year is no different

But how many people know about the training the Easter Bunnies have to do to get ready

It was a fluffy secret that was hidden and never told

Until Charlie took over

Charlie is the son of Peter Rabbit

He felt he was different than any other rabbit

He was the fastest bunny I have ever seen

He could deliver three Easter baskets when most bunnies could just deliver one

When all the bunnies were out practicing Charlie always said he had things to do

He got lazy and let his talent went to his head

Oh I forgot you never heard the story so I better start at the beginning

Years ago bunnies would have bunny races to practice staying in shape

For that one day a year where they bring chocolate bunnies to everyone

Each bunny worked extremely hard all year in making these choocolate bunnies

As bunnies they have to be well rounded in many skills

Athletic to cover alot of ground hoping from town to town

They each are skilled craftsman and make each bunny as an exact replica of themself

No easy feat

Working with chocolate isn't as easy as it looks

You have to keep the temperature just right

In order to mold

Careful on the ears or them begin to fold

Nobody wants an Easter bunny with a crack or one ear missing

Then of course they have to be good pastry chefs

There are some who specialize in those little peeps or those candy colored eggs

Most of all we spend days combing and brushing our own hair

Any girl would know that having long hair is so much work

So if we are spotted people don't get alarmed and mistake a cute little bunny for a hare

They never brush and are our cousins who never fuss

Peter Rabbit had a terrible head cold and did everything to shake it

He always led the bunnies on an Easter parade then we start on our Easter expedetion

We get up at three A.M. and it's important all our Easter Baskets are dilivered by seven

Those little children wake up and run out of their beds

When it was Easter Eve and we do a practice drill

To make sure everything goes perfect

All the Easter bunnies have to pass a strict inspection

Only the bunnies who are in the best shape and have coats that shine like silver

Out of all the bunnies only the top ten out of every hundred get to go

The rest of the bunnies help out and have to clean up

They all work together and show everyone what teamwork is all about

In all the years that I remember there is only one bunny who has ever been left out

So it was early in the morning and every bunny was so excited

Peter Rabbit was feeling much better but since he promised his son

The lead in the Easter hunt he had to sit this one out

When the whisltes sounded

Bunnies came out of everywhere

So excited just to be here

Then Peter looked around and Charlie couldn't be found

So the buggles played and drums beat

Peter was so happy everyone did a great job

He decided we would have every bunny go

Changing the rules just a bit

I heard the bunnies Cheer so loud the ground shook

Charlie the rabbit was suddenly awake

He looked at his alarm clock and was in shock

I know I should of went to bed early last night with all the other bunnies

Instead I stayed up watching t.v. and now my eyes are so sleepy

Back at the parade the bunnies were doing their magic acts and bunny flips

Slower bunnies would be helped by those that had speed

Any bunny that needed help had two bunnies buy their side

Now after awhile Peter started getting mad

Where is Charlie ?

So he left and he found Charlie running down the street

He over slept and was out of breath

I am here

He said loud and clear

Mr. Rabbit looked him straight in the eye

You are late

I can still beat any bunny in every race

Well not this year you can go back home and think

Bunnies are very important and we set an example for children

We hold our head up high and always look our best

Your fur coat has no shine and your hair looks twisted

Mr Rabbit was very very disappointed

All the rabbits are leaving this year and you will have to stay home

We will be back later and if you practice and work hard next year you can go

I have to be strict and rules are rules

Charlie knew Mr. Rabbit was right and he really didn't give it his best

He thought he was better than the rest

Now it is a tough lesson to learn but he said with a tear in his eye

If I try can I go next year

Of course you can my son

Peter rabbit reached out to give Charlie the biggest hug

I want you to have something my father gave me when I did something like you when I was young

It is a very special orange carrot on a chain

I glows and sings when someone bites Easter candy

Letting me know we are doing a good job

You have to try your best at all times

Because you have talents that are a gift

Not everyone can be a rabbit and Easter rabbits are the most talked about rabbits of them all

That is why we come every Spring and not Fall
