"An Inquiry Into Aesthetics"

Updated on July 23, 2015

I don't know if the scar

Along her cheek

Was the beauty of her face,

Or if the beauty

Was made weak

By the scar.

In any case,

I know the beauty

Was more intriguing by far

With the scar

Than without.

But there's no doubt

I loved her all the same--

Well, perhaps more with the scar

Than had I met her

Before the maim.

I'm not sure.

I've come to the conclusion

That I loved her perhaps because,

Not in spite of,

My confusion.
