An Ode to the Fallen

Updated on October 20, 2010

Shadows

cause chills

as stone and grass

greet hesitant feet

walking through blood hallowed ground

over those that sleep

who whisper to living ear

lessons both learned and failed

hoping to pass on wisdom

to those who pass

Trees swaying in undulations

casting shadows to as many as it can

so that solace may be

for they walk as they  that sleep

If time gets too heavy

gratitude becomes difficult

rushing rushing replacing thump thump thump

take a walk in the shadows

listen to the hissing stone

find in there a voice of understanding

then live worthy of words

that might mark you

when you join them.

..well you definitely put the 'in' into intellectual - and it's not always what I read here in your writing BUT what I don't read. You let your readers (clever you and clever me because I do the same thing with my writing) fill in the blanks with their own imagination because a good writer always has the confidence to do that.

You also allow you readers breathing room and give them a literary key to unlock the boundless mysteries which can be found here in your writing!

And I see you want some challeges: well you have already challenged me to be inspired and become a better writer - but I will be back with a few surprises and some concrete challenges - you are a writer that others should know about!!!

lol well you may let people know if you are so inclined but while I love to help and to be helped. I love to inspire as I am inspired. I use my medium to share a bit and to reflect a bit, I have not the heart to toot my own trumpet if I can help it but for some odd reason I am opinionated enough that I cant seem to avoid notice. It has been an honor to be noticed by you though.

I never thought anything different. Although, what makes for a unique poet makes for a screwed up individual at times. lol, I appreciate the appreciation but it isn't against you if sometimes I resent the cause. It is an odd dichotomy.
