An Ode to the Sleeping

Updated on February 26, 2011

Would I open your eyes...

long the dust has gathered...

seeing things the way you do...

the dust in the way of what matters

the eyes glued shut from goo

and your ears plugged with cobwebs

try as I might

I am not getting threw.

The world as you see it is a fantasy

a play that comes neatly to an end.

though i wish it were so

that way just won't go

the laws of the All still hold sway

no One who isn't human will save

humanity from being slaves

they must save themselves

with help of course

but their course must be to act

in that way does He act anyway.

Don't wait for the prophets

or those who lived before

to get out of their tombs

hoping they will do your chores

save you from toil

is a hallucination

a padded reality

oh please just wake up

No? Well fine then

so sleep on if you will

regurgitating swill

but there is still a work to do

the rest of us will

drink that cup

you can sleep still

when the rewards come too.

keep safe in the unreal.

"Keep safe in the unreal." This poem is powerful and carries a warning beautifully stated. Very nice.

Beautiful words, and you have painted an eloquent picture with them.
