An Unknown Gift

Updated on March 3, 2011
Source

I don't know how you did it...
It was no sleight of hand...
The magic that you spun one night,
I'll never understand...
Unwittingly unleashing
with illusions of the heart...
you performed some magic
that turned rubble into art.
You transformed a rabbit
into a graceful dove...
restored a shattered mirror
into a glass reflecting love!
Herein lies the miracle
that I embrace today...
your words of mere illusion,
became a gift of gold cache.
How does one say thank you
for a precious gift so rare?
Unwittingly by magic,
an unknown gift beyond compare?
There are no words to tell you
the impact you did impart...
but know this, Oh Magician,
you transformed this broken heart!

It matters not from whence it comes...healing is healing and priceless to the healed. It is the same gift, in different wrappers. A Magician is a magician, be it an illusion or a little girl! What a beautiful thing! Your niece is an angel! Thanks for sharing this miracle with me!

I never had a magic man per se, but a little 7yr old once healed a "broken man". My niece healed my then 88 yr old grand father. Papa was standing over the casket of my grandmother, before they came back in to load it for its journey to the burial site. She walked up beside him and seeing him crying silently while standing there, grabbed his hand, looked up at his face and said.."Don't worry grand pa, we will just need to get a new grand ma". I couldn't help but smile thru the tears that were falling, and watched as instantly my grand father was healed by the power of innocent love and compassion. I know your healing was more of a romntic ideal, but healing of the heart comes in all things. -Paul

bella, true story...don't understand it, don't gotta! just grateful from my little nose to my little toes! The most amazing part of all...it was a stranger who vanished into thin air! "poof"! Pretty potent magic! David Copperfield style! If I run into him someday, I will send him your way! Thanks!

This is intolerable. Between you and bellarwritter I'm a mess today.

Alright you, it's time you start thinking about publishing your work. I'm serious.

      Much love,

      Will....

      Oh Magician,

      you transformed this broken heart!

as if by magic, tnderhrt, you have transformed the rubble of words into a beautiful poem of the magic of love and the transformation it can bring. Lovely!

(sorry to quibble but I think it should be 'sleight' of hand and not 'slight' ) ;-)

PA, my only explanation is from the Divine...God's words through my pen, my friend...I am thrilled for you and thrilled that this touched so deeply! I suspect it arrived on time, too! Congratulations to you both!

My Gosh Tenderheart. where does such sublime prose rise within you ?

This poem is so fitting in that it reflects very much my own state of heart before I met Craig. This poem has such a personal impact for me for tomorrow ( NZ time) is our 17 year anniversary. that is to say for me 17 years ago I met my Magician that mended a broken heart, mind and spirit.
