An iota of being – the poem

Updated on October 4, 2013

A day and a night

A life and a death

So much differed

Yet two sides of a coin,

A smile and a tear

Closeness and a distance

So much more opposed

Then two edges of extremes.

Hanging on… in between

Once this way

Next moment the other way,

Roll on and move on….

Relative are the shades

Without the other

One lost the meaning of being.

Silence craves for the noises

And noise is silent in the depth,

Always another reason

To die for…..

When need meet the eyes

And again a life to live for.

Since some warmth gets frozen

As long as few moments sour deep….

Time melts in the fire of yearning

The opposites attract never the less

So what if a heart knows….

A silent death will ensue…

If desires do not burn to be dead

Then the meaning will be lost

Indeed in chilling dead end.

And there begins the never ending crave

For life and after life…..

After glow in the last sigh

An iota of breathing…

In you I lost my meaning…..!!!

      Dear Deergha,

A very strong poetic verse you have exclaimed here of impassioned desire overriding the judgement of the heart. The protagonist in your narrative seems to have been embroiled in an intense, all-consuming relationship in order to lose one's meaning in another. I certainly hope that the storm cloud passes for that person quickly, so that the break of a new day may expose its healing glory into a bemused and tender heart.

      With Kind Regards,
