And Here We Are (poem)

Updated on June 13, 2017

And here we are

A shining star

Without a scar

No fate to mar

Amid dark pools

Where evil rules

And hands of fools

Hold all the tools

And here we are

A shining star

A muddy stream

Without a gleam

Where poor men dream

Of self esteem

And here we are

A shining star

Cruel rivers flow

Through hearts of woe

Which hope did know

So long ago

And here we are

A shining star

And gutters fill

With lifeless swill

Who lost their will

In bitter chill

And here we are

A shining star

As strangers drowned

And pasts are ground

Regrets profound

They look around

And here we are

A shining star

Without a scar

No fate to mar

That was great. Very realistic. I could see every word you wrote.

Oh Martin!!! Oh my goodnes, I loved the poem, simply loved it... it was sweet and almost simple but so powerful and inspirational. The video!!! That was the best five minutes I've spent in my life, talk about paying in forward? This is so beautiful!!!!

I really enoyed this poem with the conflicting phrases and the way they rhymed. Very clever. Voted up!

All those clever rhymes again! I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do. One day! We can always hope.

Mhatter99...Yes it would be nice if everyone felt this way....and hopefully one day maybe it will become a reality....but for now it appears it is an "I..ME " world....nice job, enjoyed the video...

You managed to bring tears to my eyes.

This is what it is all about. One small act kindness at a time.

      Thank you,

      Good morning Dear Little Martin

The video was so moving...I have gone to youtube and am sharing it with my family as an honor to my nephew who left us too soon. He is our shining star and no longer faces the negatives our world can offer. Although he navigated the waters well and taught us how to do so as well. Thanks for this lovely sharing...

Angels are on the way this morning ps

It is a very interesting poem, with conflicting wording . . . shining star and then cruel rivers . . . and the video is truly a gem, and we all should take a hint and just do such, then wouldn't the world be a little nicer to live in?

      Voted up ++++ and sharing

      God bless, Faith Reaper

Loved this and the video! Wish daily life could go that way, probably we should try to give it a little push, huh?

I like the repeat here. Interesting poem, and I vote useful, not useless!
