Anew

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

The sweet salt air brings me back to youth,

when the seas were vast yet filled with potential,

and I like a wisp of foam floated careless on the swell,

and life crashed endlessly beneath me.

Sand between my toes I drift back to beginnings,

when each breath had meaning and each experience new,

when hearts opened as the morning rose,

to the nurture of life's pulse.

How free the soul in the pristine state of youth,

not entangled in the game of life,

but imbuing all of it as a white canvas pleading colour,

ready to be fashioned into a revelation.

By the sea I discovered me,

my roots and connection to life at its most resolute,

each moment conceding nature as the mentor of reality,

the teacher of all that bares consequence.

For me the sea is my mind, always fluid,

always trying to reinvent itself,

to explore and mold new beginnings,

limitless in imagination, guided by the seduction of possibility.

Anew, I am invigorated, each inhalation the power of life,

surging through my veins and healing all my doubts and fears,

as I was in youth, open and accepting of everything that could be,

everything my mind could grasp.

The sea reminds me how small I am,

and how significant I can be in potential,

each move in life a fluid step forward into a future,

that I fashion with my open heart and mind.

When we are younger we re invent ourselves many times, till we get to the point where we are happy with who we are. I think a lot of people miss those days when everything had unlimited potential, but it also adds a lot of work to life.

Thanks Josh, glad you liked it. I have previously published two books of poetry and working on a book of love poetry with images. It will be a coffee table type book. My partner is a photographer and its something we can do together. I have something like 650 poems that have not been published in hard cover, and I'd really like to do that. Here in Australia the market is too small and poetry does not make money. I really need an agent in the states. But that's something for the future. Thanks for the interest Josh. Always glad to get your feedback. take care.

      Tony,

Just beautiful! Have you tried to publish any of your poems? I know you have published books, so I was just curious.

Powerful concept conveyed here of how life seems easy when you are young, with nothing to worry about. We were so accepting when we were young, but as we grow older we tend to shy away from that. But, this is a great reminder to get back to our youth! Relearn what we have all ready learned.

Awesome poem Tony, thanks for sharing!
