Angels By Any Other Name

Updated on May 2, 2017

A mother who works so hard, to bear children, more than one,

Gives her all, in every way, does strive till the setting of the sun.

A father who works all hours, comes home, still sharing the load,

Both are angels in the flesh, each day spent, walking life's road.

A lawman who always risks his life has children and a wife,

Takes on the world, all that's hurled, in his life of daily strife.

A dutiful fireman who guards our lives sees that all thrives,

Gives his life, to make sure that we're safe when he arrives.

Dedicated teachers, work for less, despite the strain, do their best,

Knowing love so effects when it's given, and in every child to invest.

A man of God preaches each day, sees we're blessed in every way,

Devotes his life to serve our Lord, as all do praise him each new day.

Each secretary of any man more than keeps the boat afloat,

Without her wit and savvy, his words would only sugarcoat.

Truck drivers, drive a thousand miles, beyond belief to say,

Here for you in delivering your needs, and for very little pay.

We all owe such a debt of gratitude to our military who do serve,

Risking life and limb, yet so few praises given them all to deserve.

The postman walks miles every day, as he delivers to us the mail,

Each letter sent, those received, his job always done without fail.

Angels, all, and by any other name, many hundreds we may find,

Our helpers, givers, each one, all to be the most dedicated kind.

The most common women and men, never to seek our gratitude,

The angelic role they do extol, from the heart their love to include.

So many heroes and angels on this Earth. It's nice to give them credit for all they do and how much they mean to us.

Thank them--these angels in various roles--and thank God for them. A very thoughtful piece.

Thank you, my friend. There are so many angels out there and it is almost impossible to name all that do need to be remembered. We all should be grateful for our blessed angels about us. Blessings to you and yours. whonu

This poem is a good reminder to be grateful for each and every person and the role they play in our lives. We don't realize how each everyday person contributes to making our everyday life pleasant or effortless. You also bring home the message to me, no matter what your role is in life, take pride in what you do. The cleaner in the hospital not only cleans, but gives out extra warmth and hope as he/she says hello to the grieving parents that come to visit their sick child in hospital.
