Angering Aries ( Mount Olympus Rewritten )

Updated on April 9, 2011

This is an old poem that I decided to add to and re-publish

( Mount Olympus )

...

My wings have carried me through the ages

Sailing beyond the limits of your sight

My eyes have penetrated the deepest blackness

Witnessing the source of all light

I granted you a page in the book of life

Yet, for power you yearn

Your empires will be erased

Your cities will burn

Conspiring within your transparent walls

Speaking petty blasphemous lies

Now, upon my name, your planet will call

As my fire and spite rain from your skies

I created you, yet you seek to overthrow me?

I gave you breath, which I now take away

You believe that you could ever destroy me?

The time has arrived to take back what I made

Stand at the corners and prophesy your fate

Call out on the streets your desperate lament

Your church is corrupted with trivial debates

Now look to the heavens and fear my descent

I love this! I should go and read the other one... if you still have it... But anyways, I like how the song you picked is all nice in the beginning and then it gets really rocking around the, for me, near the end of the song.

There is an old expression "don't anger the gods." I guess we are about to find out why they used to say that! :o

Well - all your array of perspectives "work" well. I was simply registering my impression of that one.

lizzybeth - haha yeah the timing seems about right :D

acer - thanks a lot man, as always

acae - I really appreciate that

Nellie - I wrote the original like...a year ago I guess. I added more to it, and yeah it isn't as visceral but I really like to write something more deep and not so emotional sometimes.

Quite excellent. When did you write this one, Ben? It is deep but not quite as visceral as your poetry often is. You're standing on the outside of it more than you do nowadays, perhaps.
