Animal Similes That Rhyme

Updated on September 5, 2018
Please forgive me my owl, sorry about the terrible association...
Please forgive me my owl, sorry about the terrible association...

Twas a time of the year, an election near,

All as busy as a bee, and crazy as a loon.

New figures running for office, as the old,

Most lame as ducks, or wild as a baboon,

One politician was as wise as an old owl,

The only difference was he wore a scowl.

Kept patrons guessing, all were confused,

Not anyone to know, they were being used.

Sometimes everyone acts blinder than a bat,

Never know which end's up, just think of that.

Especially when all things don't seem secure,

It does all become undone, to smell like a rat.

When a dude as hairy as a gorilla, gets caught,

Driving intoxicated, he was as drunk as a skunk.

Then you find out later that he's a congressman,

Was he as crazy as any loon, what had he thunk?

The cop was eager as a beaver, to make an arrest,

and as angry as a hornet, to find the guy undressed.

A wife was as gentle as a lamb, graceful as a gazelle,

Now her hubby of fifty years, to spend the night in jail.

Then her old man got released, was as free as a bird,

He was hungry as a horse, ate supper without a word.

His lawyer was as sly as a fox and slippery as any eel,

No matter how many times jailed, this he did not reveal.

When the election day came, the man, quiet as a mouse,

No one else to know of his record, he kept it in the house.

As he rode in his new limousine, then proud as a peacock,

Won his election, forgot it all, was slow as a snail, the louse.

Getting ready to say neighhh...please, no more rhetoric!

I love this, whonu! It's got great rhythm and floats like a butterfly. What a fun way to get your point across!

This was brilliantly humorous! Sarcasm, rhyming, and a serious message - a powerful combination. Did I mention it was intelliigent?
