Another Day to Squalk

Updated on April 27, 2017

Listen And Listen Again

The sun hidden behind a row of long grey eyebrows

The little birds out of sight

But I can hear them

Not chirping

Loud and clear

From where ?

Somewhere out in the yard

The ground soft from all the rain

The first bug decided to practice his landing

He touched down almost perfectly then took off rather quickly

Another bug did a fly bye

Rather close to me

O.k. go away

Signs of Spring in the air

My deck paint cracking after a long harsh winter

A big black ant looking for his friends

My grass all patchy with some spots completely bare

Small tulips growing a little taller every day

Broken sticks scattered like shattered glass

I see a bent over green octopus

Where a lovely alive and vibrant shrub should be

Light brown leaves tossed in small piles

Like little unfinished erector sets

I venture outside to investigate

Then I hear my home phone ring

Once again I am called away from the beauty just under my eyes

To a world of would be and could be's

The next time I return

I will walk far enough into my yard

Where nothing can draw me away

Manatita 44 Every time you read one of my hubs you point out things I don't see in my writing. I am so appreciative and thankful. When I write I close my eyes and envision what I want to say. Then I let my thoughts take me away. Hopefully I will bring different light to a subject we haven't thought about before. Thank you again for your help and support. Have a great night.

Gypsy Rose Lee I love your tall oak called Henry. When I am outside I view my life with nature and how we are so deeply connected. My energy increases and I am so relaxed. Viewing how perfect everything is. Thank you for reading and sharing.

You started with some nice images in this one and then it rolled all the way with ease, Bro. Cool. More poetic than prose this piece. Have a great May BH weekend.

You sound like me. Once I do drag myself out of the house away from the PC I head for the back of my garden where my tall oak tree fondly called Henry waits for me. We converse awhile exchange inspiration and I hold on to him until I have recovered my energy. Hope you're having a great weekend. We are supposedly expecting a real blast of rain but so far this morning just a drizzle is falling. You see with the craziness of poetry month I even write in rhyme.
