Updated on October 16, 2012

ME time is VERY important also.....

Reflections of myself.....
Reflections of myself..... | Source

Parents remember days go by faster each year...and children even faster.....

I met a new friend today said the boy to his mother..

Never lifting her head, which was too much of a bother..

She was texting you see which was much more important.

Don’t you have something to do, other than to bother me ?

I am busy you see…now go find your father…

I met a new friend today said the boy to his father…

Never lifting his head from his computer, said “that’s nice “..

Now go find something to I am too busy to listen to you..

The boy walked away with his head hung low..

he wasn't really sure if he should go..

Dad one more question before I leave...

Do you remember my friend Steve ?

He says he’s been here before..but feels out of place

He lives far away on the other side of space…

He asked if I’d go with him for a ride you see..

What would you do if you were me ?

Would you stay or would you go

You and mom seem too busy these days, what with work and texting.

There’s no time for maybe I’ll go to visit this place..

Out there far away in space…..

Sure says his dad .,do what you want ..

Never really listening to what was said…

Just make sure you are back in time to get yourself ready for bed….

This conveys a strong message - and a good example of how many children 'learn' behaviour from parents and pass on to the next generation. So sad. Great to see the comment from pringoooals who is engaging so readily with her children - some hope for the future!

O my, that's unbelieveble. I feel sad for the kids and for the parents, one day they will wake up or no but it will be too late anyway. I have the other problem kids wouldn't let me sit for long, they like to engage mum and dad in whatever they do, and we can't really resist them. I hope that will not make them too dependant. Hopefully when they grow up that will give them some self confidence. I think the parents you are writing about are not aware what this lack of response does to their children..

I would love to take the challenge but I'm struggling with the time just now. I'm the mother of 2 girls and I prefer to put the solution in practice:) I'm just back from the playground, tomorrow we have planned cinema.

This is so very say, although it conveys a powerful message of truth. This does indeed really happen in today's society.

whonunuwho...Kudos to you for chosing to be an Educator..too many parents rely on the Teachers to correct all the wrongs..and that's not right..As parents we chose to have the children and responsibility should be ours..and yes alot of parents have lost touch and this is sad, but what lies ahead for the future ? Thank you for your comments..appreciated...

pringoooals...thank you for the kind is sad...I would love to see a hub rebutal/solution to this...any takers ?

AS a teacher for many years I have met many parents who seemed to portray the characters in way too many homes and when problems popped up with their kid;s behavior, they seemed perplexed as to why and how hey could change their children's attitudes. Then there were some who wanted to blame teachers or just anything else , not to take responsibility. Kids in well rounded homes are indeed fortunate these days. I believe parents do care, they just seem to have lost touch in many cases. A poem that brings home the reality of life for children and well done.

A beautiful but sad poem because it makes a strong point. I've met a few young people that are going through this. My heart goes out to them.
