Anyone See Where My Day Went ?

Updated on November 14, 2014

It Was Here A Minute Ago

I thought my day was just beginning

Boy was I wrong

I must of slept through it

Maybe I was day dreaming

I'm not sick so I can't blame it on any cold medicine

I don't have a headache or a migraine

That would be a good excuse

I can't even blame it on the weather

It was gorgeous outside

A little bit nippy to keep you awake

Well that didn't work

I am running out of excuses

I am not tired

I am not busy at work

The sun came up and now it went down

This will have to be another mystery left unsolved

A day still has twenty four hours at least last time I checked

The younger generation has made so many changes

Maybe they cut hours in the day

Thinking it was just to long and life would be so much better

If the time was cut in half

I have to check the paper

No that won't work

All the kids don't read the paper

I will have to go online

But where do I check

I will google it

Hours in a day

Maybe I have to be more specific

Has anyone changed the hours that makes up one day ?

They change cell phones and sneakers constantly

If there is a way they will find it

Everywhere I look there are changes that I am not used to

It started with small changes

Nobody says the Pledge Of Allegiance in schools no more

No more writing in schools

They type it on the computer

Now I see people fist bump instead of shaking hands

They don't read books they rather watch a you tube video

Some young adults wear their pants hanging down

With their underwear showing

After Googling and looking for an answer

It brought up websites and thoughts I never thought about

Some crazy conspiracy theories

Now I am more shocked than puzzled

But as far as I can see

No change

Wheew !!

That's a relief

I think I was so busy and involved in trying to get things done

Working hard the old fashioned way

With plain old hard work

That's something else young adults don't do anymore

They come into work late and want to leave early

I just don't get it

Maybe I never will

In the end I have to say this day has come and gone the way it has since the beginning of time

One second at a time until it reaches a minute

Then the minutes lead to hours

I may not have a good explanation why my day disappeared

Maybe I was abducted by a U.F.O.

No no one would believe that

The younger generation thinks it stands for a new rock group

I laugh and I am going to leave it just like that

I wouldn't change a thing

Because I like my days and nights too

This is the only thing we have in common

At least for now until they find a new way

Wait and see

Nothing surprises me anymore

After I have seen

A man with hoop earrings that stretch his whole ear

Why ?

I know

He was afraid he would lose them

Gypsy Rose Lee The wind is blowing and just when think it can't get any worse it does. Pouring rain coming down so hard stingy our face and drenching our clothes. Hours later the sun is out warm and wonderful. Birds are chirping and I can see the most beautiful rainbow of all it's colors lighting up the whole sky. Both are the same day but at different times. There is so much beauty in everything we see. Sometimes we have to look a little harder. Thank you for reading and commenting. Life is definitely full of surprises.

It seems to me that the world we're living in now is like siting in a small rowboat upon a choppy sea.

vocalcoach I am all for change for the better. Not to change just to be different and to have very little common sense. I will try to think with an open mind but for now I may have to take two asprin and call the doctor in the morning. If we can't change the things we don't like maybe we can discuss them in a more positive light.Thank you for reading and sharing. Sometimes one comment gives me hope. That I am not the only one who thinks and feels this way. Many times I am out numbered and feel lost for a moment in a world I only love.

I so relate to this poem. You've described to a "T"how times have changed. If my mother were still alive I don't think she could adapt to the lifestyle of young people. Very cleverly written my friend. Voted up, useful, awesome, interesting and sharing. Audrey
