Anyone Up For Tea Time

Updated on February 28, 2011

Remembering Years Ago

When I was small my mother use to have tea time in the afternoon

Her sister would come over and they would talk abut adult stuff

Me being the youngest and still not in school at the time

Probably five or six

I had the privelege of joining my mother and her sister for tea time

I remember having tea and dipping the tea bag just so

Squeezing it hard against the spoon like a big shot

To make sure I got every ounce of water out

You had to let it cool a little or you would burn your tongue

You only did that once and that was enough to learn wait and watch others sip first

Then it is sip

I liked milk in my tea or was it cream

I just loved to see the wonderful dark color change to a golden color

Then there came the best part

We got to have cookies with the tea

We could take them out of the big glass cookie jar that usually was underneath  the cabnet

It was now front and center for everyone to see

The cookies looked larger than life

I could have sworn they were three D

I loved those days simple as they might have been

I almost forgot I loved to add two tea spoons of sugar

Look I got to use the tea spoon too

The sound it made when I clanked it against my cup

Stirring it up nicely making my own private whirlpool

Then I think if I was good I got to have another cup

But if I didn't have one

I remember it was because my mother and aunt were heading out the door to do some shopping

Score now that's what I call living and loving life at a very young age

I also remembered spilling a little and wiping it up as fast I can

Then some how all things were was an accident

That's what napkins were made for

I left with a smile and after all these years my smile has found it's way back to me
