Apology Letter To Our Children

Updated on February 26, 2014

Anan is an online blogger and private consultant since 2009 in the areas of relationships and interfaith spirituality.

I am sorry my little one.

I'm sorry.

For our legacy is broken

damaged.

We were blind,

deaf and hollow.

Now,you'll pay the price

with sorrow.

We were given a paradise,

we have destroyed it.

A rich and beautiful land,

turned into tears and ash.

I am so sorry my beloved.

We took our home for granted.

Leaving you, with nothing.

All in the name of greed.

Look what we have done.

Hate has spread all around.

Where love's supposed to be.

Our Earth is dying, because of us.

We were so distracted,

we fail to notice.

That life was dying,

in land and sea.

That we were brothers,

That we are one.

Will God forgive us for this?

Why would He?

For the blood of the innocent cries

as a broken echo at the sky.

As it pains me to admit, my child

in your hands lies our last hope.

Build, sow and brake the barriers

of the world that we have destroyed.

Voted up and awesome. Powerful message, expressively done and great video. I'm with you all the way. Hope that the children can do something to preserve once they're grown. In the meantime it's up to us to open our eyes.

      Happy Earth Day every one!

Thank you guys for taking the time to read my work. I encourage you to take a minute today to look beyond the concrete jungle, and really see the beauty and simplicity of nature. Blessings!

'blind, deaf, and hollow' - if THAT isn't SO perfectly said - i don't know what is!

I've often asked people what they would remove from the world if they could choose but ONE thing...

i know my answer is always GREED! We WANT so much we don't realize how much we're LOSING..

i am falling in love with your huge heart and beautiful hubs!

I remember sharing this post from the Women's Rights New's photo a few days ago.

"The earth is not dying, it is being killed. And the people who are killing it have names and addresses." -Utah Phillips

And today we are celebrating Earth Day.

Very timely. Thank you for sharing this, ananceleste.

      anaceleste,

This is such a beautiful display of such an ugly truth. I'm glad you said it! We point our fingers and blame everyone and everything we can when we need to realize what we are doing ourselves! Voted up and beautiful!

      Hi Mhatter!

You must be so proud of your son. When I saw this video the first time, I could not stop crying. I so true. Then I look at my children and wonder, Will they blame us? Could it be fixed?

Well done. I am very close to this subject as my son works for the government to protect our earth.

Spoken from the heart and on behalf of every generation that has been a part of the destruction. This is a powerful statement and should make all of us ashamed of our lack of vision for the future. Voted up, awesome, and sharing.
