Are You Happy Now? (The Fall)

Are You Happy Now?

Well, are you happy now?

You had me where you wanted

Like a fool, I followed

As you led me onto the limb

No one would get hurt, you told me

So farther and farther I went

Daring to take that risk and leap

Then you left me on my own

Without another word to me

You went back the way that you came

Leaving me there to fall

So are you happy now?

You know, I would have been there

You could've had my love

And though I do not have a lot

I would've loved with all I had

You would never doubt that I cared

For all the little things I'd do. . .

But since you just let me go

That's something you will never know

Still, I hope you don't find someone

That leads you to a fall

Awesome poem, shanmarie....I can't believe you've had no comments yet! These are words I wish I had the courage to say to those who have hurt me. Voted it up and awesome! : )

Perhaps saying those things in person would not be the wisest course of action, anyway. :/ I"ve done it both ways. These words and none like them were ever uttered to this particular person, but I have, in fact, very recently spouted off my exact thoughts about being hurt and feeling abandoned. It did nothing to make the situation any better, and if anything, actually made it worse. Unleashing the anger may help for the time being, but afterward the hurt still remains, and unless you plan to hold onto the anger (which is such poison to the soul) it only takes time to heal.

I love the following lyrics because there is such truth found in them:

TIME IS A HEALER BUT WE CAN’T SEE HOW

WHEN YOU’RE CAUGHT IN THE MOMENT

      AND THE HURTING IS NOW

WE DON’T WANNA SEE THAT MAYBE SOME THINGS

      WEREN’T MEANT TO FIGURE OUT

One of my favorite singers sings this song, Jo Dee Messina. Here is a video link to the song if you would like to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_QqUWMgcto
