Are there Extraterrestrial Civilizations we are not aware of?

The Kardashev Scale

The research for my fifth visionary fiction novel in The Ascension Series: Parallel Worlds has taken me to many online websites but only recently did I learn about the Kardashev Scale.

Kardashev Scale is a method of measuring a civilization's level of technological advancement, based on the amount of energy a civilization is able to utilize and is able to direct towards communications to other neighboring star systems or worlds

In 1964, Kardashev defined three levels of civilizations

I was keen to find out what our civilization on Earth was rated at; and to my ‘not so surprised discovery’ was the following:

  • Type 0 - 1 - "Technological level is close to the level presently attained on earth, but we are not there yet. We are still today in 2016 on a Type 0 civilization level. Most of us know that we have reached a turning point in society. According to Michio Kaku , the next 100 years of science will determine whether we perish or thrive.

In my novel Parallel Worlds I clearly interact with a Type II anti-matter civilization. Through the eyes of my two characters Tulanda and Hans I try to imagine what a Type II civilization would be like, but to imagine an anti-matter universe is even more daunting. My knowledge of physics is nil, but the reasons why I titled my novel Parallel worlds is because I think that when we talk about anti-matter, this reality is then composed of a material composed of antiparticles.

Only after watching the TV series Fringe did the pieces of a puzzle slowly come together for my novel. For me Fringe is the best original Science Fiction show I’ve come cross so far. From parallel universes to time travel to human experimentation, Fringe really incorporated everything they could into the story, in one way or another. Fringe is solid from beginning to end.

Parallel verses anti-matter

Big Bang theorist says that antimatter was created in the same amount as matter, but where did antimatter go?

Could it be that during this big bang it went into separate mental universes, in the form of opposite energy to the energy we observe the most of in our reality, physical matter? Could it be that our mental image pictures are conserved in the opposite energy of anti-matter because mental images are not tangible as antimatter might be? Or let’s say that if anti-matter if NOT tangible, it might be far less visible?

If these Parallel Universes are more physical, is our reality then just an illusion? If these Parallel Worlds have been here all along and that they have opposite energies, and make up for what we see as missing anti-matter, then somehow might this idea not to do with our consciousness?

Could our human consciousness be an anti-matter phenomenon?

In my novel Liesbeth – the physical character interacts with her Parallel self where she is known as Tulanda. Could it be that our consciousness is capable of creating an effect and counter-creating the same effect and this is then what we experience as a physical reality?

In all my ascension novels I share my philosophy that we are beings of light contained within a crystallized light world and when the lights go (through death or through an ascension process ) we move again at the speed of light towards our new home as light beings of energy who cannot die, only change form.

Where does religion come into it all?
The teachings of the religious texts regarding the truism “As above so below” teach this in veiled ways, but they have being perceived incorrectly. It’s my belief that our ancestors knew all of this, but modern science has been working hard to hide who we truly are. Holding onto a belief, be it a religious or scientific one, could very well be the end of our human civilizations. I will share why I think this is so.

The journey of the Jaarsma Clan

Both the Tulanda and Hans characters have taken me on a thought provoking tour. Just as I’m the creator of the characters of the jaarsma Clan, our universe might be a mind; The Absolute All that Is, but this mind has been split into two, anti-matter and matter.
If thoughts can be measured outside the head which we now believe to be true, then these thoughts must have massive power and therefore all ideas are in the ether. We just need to learn to plug in to that universal energy again before a new golden age can ensue.

In my story Hans keeps reminding his mother Annelies that anti-matter is not outside in some corner of the universe, it is actually right here in our living room, in the shower, at work, in the bathroom. It’s everywhere, but is located in different universes. She is as confused about this as I am, the creator of the Jaarsma Clan!

Through storytelling I have to be able to make tangible how our images of the world contain all sorts of soul qualities, (e.g colors, shapes, texture, smells). These soul qualities are the particles of Language of Light, and might very well belong to anti-consciousness and that there are beings composed of anti-matter, who have anti-consciousness. I think that they are as real as we are in our world, but in their own respective way.

Consciousness and mind is a mirror of the physical universe

I feel today that it is our mind that molds the matter into what we see; that we are all in tune with this universal mind, though we may be completely unaware of its existence because it’s not something we can measure or define. I think gravity is the force that the universal mind uses to create what our minds wish to see.

The video of Otto King was very helpful to me, but he says that the big bang causes anti-matter to disappear. He talks about the God particles, multiverse theories and parallel universes. He says there are three universes. His video brought me back to the beginning of this article. Otto brings in the tetrahedron and I did like his explanations. See for yourself.

Our spiritual world

Our spiritual world might be an anti-matter reality and therefore we are all Gods in the making. Here is the rest of the Kardashev Scale;

Type 1 – Their technological level is close to the level presently attained on earth, but we are not there yet. This type civilization is able to harness all of their planet’s energy. They have control over its natural forces such as volcanoes, weather and even earthquakes.

Type 2 – This is an interplanetary society and have the ability to occupy several planets, and their massive disposable energy makes this civilization virtually immune to extinction.

(In the series Star trek the Turians are a good example of this kind of civilization)

Type 3 – This is an interstellar society of galactic travelers, able to move from star to star capturing energy and colonizing planets. Un-involved humans become an inferior sub-species. They remind me of The Borg from Star Trek.

Type 4 A few theorists like Michio Kaku and Carl Sagan see these as an intergalactic society that can even live inside super massive black holes. These advanced races would have superhuman capabilities such as changing the structure of space and time.

Type 5 – These are civilizations that can control the power output of collections of universes. These beings would be like Gods, having the knowledge to manipulate the universe as they please.

Today we as a human species are at the mercy of Earth’s natural forces and we still source our energy needs from dead plants and animals, but remember that we are (on a soul level) beings of light contained within a crystallized light.

Thanks for reading my philosophical musings.

(For our Type 0 civilization on planet Earth ever to evolve towards the type1 level, then every human being should read and be inspired with this poem: to be:The King of the World from Jodah )

Here I go again, reading your musing's and I don't have a clue. When you write you take us on a journey into the unknown, hoping to be enlightened to the possibility of an extraterrestrial existence. I enjoy your art work, especially your name on her leg, very cleverly placed. Thank you for sharing...

Nadine, how interesting! What if... Who can say that there is, or is not, a parallel world.

Writing novels about this must be extremely challenging. I look forward to read your novels on this topic :)

Thanks for your wonderful comment to my article Ruby. Speculating and writing about this kind of topic does not mean that i know the truth, but it does inspire the story teller in me.

Hi Martie so glad you found my post interesting. Yes i did choose challenging ideas to translate into fiction, therefore writing the articles on this topic is a great help, and so are the comments on it.

Well, Nadine, this was certainly an interesting and eye opening read. That you for sharing about the Kardashev Scale etc. I had never heard of it. Thank you for referring to and linking to my poem "King of the World" as an example of evolving from type 0 to type 1 of the scale. Now I understand much more.

It was a pleasure to link your poem Jodah. It was through my research that I came onto the Kardashev Scale. It made so much sense to me.

I am both amazed and puzzled Nadine. Perhaps that is good. I too have pondered parallel universes and thank you for enlightenment with current thought on that. What it conjures is that movie K-PAX with Kevin Spacey. I also ponder Stonehenge.

To think of parallel universes one must open the mind to even conceive principles. I offer a nod to explore writing on that. A question I have just arrived with is if an anti-matter universe began with the big bang is time the same there as here with a matter universe?

Nadine - What if all your ideas are coming from an inner source of knowing and actually reflecting the factual reality? Isn't it amazing how we crave to know these ultimate answers while some other folks are mainly into their materialistic aspect of life and never give it a thought? What is it in us that makes us ask all these questions?

Your hub is certainly proving that you are one of those specially gifted seekers of the truth. It was a pleasure reading it.

Thanks for your great comment Tim. What I have so far understood is that matter and antimatter cannot exist together in the same place. Time is for me irrelevant since in consciousness all experiences can happen at the same time. My research about anti matter started in the late eighties when I came onto a book by Carl van Vlierden. The twelve planets speak. Because of some personal experiences I knew that his book held a lot of truth in it. Look it up in google.

Yes Vladimir I do feel strongly that there is an inner knowing that is surfacing in many people. My own searching about very alternative ideas and speculations started in the late seventies, after an un-explainable experience. Since then I been exposed to many theories but I was told that I needed to follow my intuition at all times and never hold on to any beliefs. Only many years later did I understand the obstacles of mentally and emotionally holding on to any beliefs. Having a belief holds us trapped in a time capsule so to speak. I will have to write an article on that topic.

Well . . . I just did some research and am amazed at current science with it and it being harvested. Amazing! I must admit the science is beyond me, while I can conceive it as explained. In other words today, for me, it is no longer a word of sci-fi, but a reality. Too much to think about now :-)

Hi Tim ha ha yes there is a lot of reading material about anti-matter that can be overwhelming and the science is beyond me as well, but it makes for an interesting plot. Fiction can often be more true that facts. You must have heard of that one!

I'm as certain as I can be without being able to point to something concrete that there are indeed other living intelligent beings in the universe. Likely more than just one planet or one kind of being. It would be odd, given how extensive our universe is, if there weren't other intelligent life.

I often ponder the questions you are writing about. The answer is that of course there are extraterrestrial civilizations. There are approximately 200 billion stars in our galaxy alone. Say one percent of these stars have planets capable of supporting life, that would be 2 billion planets. Then you take one percent that actually have life, that would make 20 million planets. Then another 1 percent have advanced life, so that makes 200,000 planets. Half of these are more civilized than us, the other half not. That makes 100,000 planets. This is a very conservative estimate, I think. The only reason we have not "officially" made contact with these 100,000 worlds in OUR GALAXY ONLY (my own non scientific conclusion, I admit), is because of the vast distances involved in space travel.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about the nature of consciousness too. What is it? Does it persist when we die? Where does it come from?

      Interesting ideas proposed here.

Hi, I loved Fringe too! in fact I got all the series on DVD. Fascinating read Nadine, and something that I am really interested in. on your points about religion it did come to me too that maybe our beliefs will get in the way of scientific truth, we maybe futuristic, but around the world people would rather believe in their religions than incorporate reality! great read!

It's hard for me to wrap my head around all this. Maybe it's just my non-scientific mind not understanding what you say here. I did, however understand and comprehend the Kardashev Scale. But, if we're still at level (type) zero, how do these humans who hypothesize if and how other civilizations work, measure or see them? And if they can, why can't Earth be propelled to Type I level?

Yes you ask interesting questions Shauna. Speculations are made every moment and who knows the real truth, but as an ( human) observer of the world today, I would imagine that we 'humans' in this 3D reality are still on the bottom of the Kardashev scale.

This article brought to mind the original Superman comics that I read when I was a kid. There was one character called Bizarro, who came from an alternate world, were everything was just the opposite to this one, including the backward language.

It amazes me how theorists have been muses for decades and will be for decades more. A fascinating read.
