Does TIME exists while we dream?

Updated on December 21, 2015

Nadine’s research for her visionary fiction novel series about the awakening of consciousness has led her to insights that she shares here.

Why do we have this attraction for going beyond TIME?

I’ve written several articles on the topic of TIME. The reasons are because I have on several occasions moved beyond time while my body was sleeping. l can differentiate my 'predictive' dreams from my 'regular' dreams, so the first predictive dream that I will share with you in this hub, has been documented in my dream journal at the time when I dreamed it.

Before I share my personal dream about an event that at the time made no sense, I need to add a short review on the movie we saw last week titled: LUCY, a 2014 science fiction action film directed, written and edited by Luc Besson, and produced by Europacorp.
At the end of this action packed movie the voice of Lucy says: “without time the third dimension reality does not exist” For me that was a profound statement at the end of the movie and I feel this to be true.

Source

Some of our dreams feel very real

I started my own dream journal during the eighties. I had trained myself to wake up from a dream in order to write it down in a journal on my bedside table. It was interesting and sometimes an eye-opener when I read over my scribbles from the weeks before.

My own dreams are often film clip like stories of my mind, where I passively "look at" myself as an observer. I’m very much playing a role in my dream. Some of my dreams I clearly remember are of a reality in another time-space continuum.

In my novel: Parallel Worlds Tulanda shares in her journal how she is aware of two realities at the same time.

Our physical perception level only registers what our five senses tell us, but it’s our sixth sense that belongs to that aspect of us which functions on a vibrational level where our mind, dreams, intuition and thoughts are also actively involved. If we imagine that there is a parallel universe, or maybe parallel universes in co-existence with ours then they can indeed be entwined with ours, but they only exist in other dimensions.

In my article: When dream visions become real I shared the outcome of another predictive dream I had.

I often ask for proof

The subject of Time and having a Déjà vu or dreams that have some element of future prediction in them, it was my own experiences that ignited my desire to search for the answer to my question. Are we controlled by TIME while we dream?

In my passionate search for truth, either through the dreams that I remember, something I read, or a YouTube movie about ancient Egypt, it’s often through my intent and focus that I often stumble onto situations that only much later start to make total sense.

My dream journals until 1986 were gone

I so remember waking up early in the morning from a rather stupid dream. I could still see myself pulling plastic away from a silver pendant over a flame. The setting was also very strange. I was with my husband and two children in the back garden of a Dutch couple we hardly knew but who lived nearby.

That same morning, after I had made a note of the dream in my dream journal, I told my husband again about it because in my dream the whole event was so real. I couldn’t understand why it felt the way it did. I could still see how the heat from the flame melted the pinkish plastic away from a silver ten gulden coin pendant. Why had I dreamed such a funny situation?
My husband was getting dressed to go to work in our bedroom and shrugged it off saying:
“You and your dreams.”

He never remembered any of his dreams and if I sometimes shared with him about mine, especially when I tried to analyze them. He used to comment that he did not believe in any of that nonsense.

He could not imagine us all having a barbeque in the back garden of the Dutch couple I mentioned since they were a rather odd couple, very imposing and opinionated. It was also weird about me removing plastic away from a silver pendant.
What was the meaning of the flame and the jewellery?

Four months later

I had come back from visiting my parents in Holland three weeks before. They had paid for my airline ticket to give me a break away from my full time job managing my gift shop.
A good friend of mine had looked after my shop The Prickly Pear and my daughter would help her out after school.

On that Thursday back in the shop at a quiet moment I prayed, asking for direction in my life. I knew and sensed that my life was heading down a wrong path, and after my oversees visit I had to make drastic decisions how to turn my rather unhappy marriage around.
After surrendering to the will of the divine I Am from within, I felt a lot better. I had sincerely asked that any changes would have to be for the good of all, so I had to let go and have faith in the outcome.
Years later I often say to people: “Be aware of what you ask for.”

Be aware what you ask for!

Losing everything you own through a fire

I’ve often asked myself, had I asked for my house to go up in smoke? The newspapers were full of the fire in Albert road the next day.

I will not repeat what happened that never to be forgotten afternoon because anyone can read about our fire by clicking on the link, so I will take our story from the moment we stayed for three weeks at the home of a family that lived a few streets down.

Our home had a mortgage and was therefore insured, but the content was grossly under insured.

The next morning after the fire we went back to our ruin to see if there was anything we could still salvage from the rubble. Our dogs were also happy to play in their own back garden. Our garage was freestanding so that escaped the blaze.

Source
Source

Trespassers will be prosecuted

The real shock when we arrived at our property was finding total strangers at our property picking through the rubble! My husband chased them all away and painted with big letters “trespassers will be prosecuted”.

We knew whereabouts some valuable jewellery might have been buried under the roof rubble, so we started digging. The dogs were also doing their bit and we wondered why, until we saw what they were after – cooked chicken and potatoes where the kitchens used to be. Our stove was totally melted into a funny shape and so was the fridge. The heat had been the hottest in the kitchen, and I remembered that I left an oil pan on the stove where I had deep fried Samoosas before going shopping. Had I not turned off the stove?

We were all separately interviewed by the insurance company that held the policy of our home that day. We were not prepared for that, but we seemed to have satisfied them, because the investigators said that the fire had started in the roof and due to the oil pan on the stove. The flames had gone down the hole in the ceiling above the stove where there was not yet an extractor fan installed.

Source

Have you ever had a Déjá vu?

See results

Having a Déjà vu

Deep under the rubble of our bedroom where I kept my jewellery I found a partly burned wooden box where melted blobs revealed that some jewellery in plastic boxes had been stored.

That evening back at our friends place the husband prepared a barbeque in their back garden, while we were looking at all the findings of a day. When I showed the half silver pendant that was partly covered by pink plastic goo, someone suggested I held it above a flame from an candle to see if I could pull it away. At that moment I had a Déjà-vu, and at the same time my husband uttered in stunned surprise.

“Your dreamed that!”

Because out of body experiences occur while the person is apparently asleep, I knew then that the boundaries of time and space as they are known do not exist while we are in our body.

I hope that my reply to your previews question explains what the girl is able to do. The book says: This is only possible for those that have got the gift, but I'm sure if anyone would really want to be able to do what the girl from the book does, I'm sure we will be granted that gift if our intent is honorable.

Anita my belief- or assessments are: That we are all immortal 'spiritual beings' but while we are having a human experience, when we lose a friend or a loved one in our physical reality, they ( their soul - spirit) is still very much alive, meaning the consciousness is never lost. Like energy that can never die so to speak. I see our soul to be like a library (all the experiences ) of Spirit. Imagine a huge library of books and every book is just one lifetime. That is more or less my summing up of our human experience here on Earth for now. While we dream (depending on how deep we are dreaming) our mind is clearing out of re-filing our thoughts and feelings. That is why as an example: TV or negative horror movies can have an effect during our dream time. Thanks for your question.

Hi Nadine, Must be scary when your dreams come true. Unless they are pleasant ones like winning the jackpot.

I have just read a book 'Shaman' by Robert Shea. It is based on facts in a book 'History of Illinois' written in 1847. It is about the fighting between the American settlers and the 'Red Indians.' It is really very interesting as it explains what happens when the 'Red Indians' go to visit the 'spirit world' or 'the other world.' This is only possible for those that have got the gift. They go to the spirit world and then meet up with their spirit guide who tells them the future.

According to the book this young girl goes to the spirit world and stays there for a few hours when in fact the time that she actually went into a trance and left her body was a matter of minutes, before she returned. Very interesting book. They seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the spirit world.

Well they say time passes quicker as you go older. As far as dreams go, I know I'm going off the subject. I always wondered how come in your dream you forget the person is dead. That is if you dream about a dead relative or friend. I am now convinced the reason is because their soul is still alive. And they are actually visiting you in the dream, or perhaps your soul is visiting them. What do you belief?

I totally agree with you Nadine! I have had the same sort of dream experiences and time slips if you like to call them that, for years. I am sorry about your fire, that is so awful! but yes you don't have to convince me, long story short I have dreamed so many things, and yes a few weeks years and so on there they are!

Sorry about your house Nadine. We had the same experience about a year after my husband died. My daughter and I were staying in the flat next to the house. The house was rented out so that we could survive. The fire started about 2 meters away from me on a couch?

This was at 3 o'clock in the morning. Luckily I was used to waking up at that time, and saw the fire which then had started burning on one side of the couch. I tried to hit it out, with no luck, and then

went downstairs to get help. Within minutes the top floor was burnt out and the bottom was left a shell.

Our dreams come from many different sources. We all download a great deal of stuff every moment and even the internet, a book or a movie can have an influence on us. I feel that its our 'intent' we aim for to dream about before we go to sleep that might give our subconscious a guide as to what we should dream about? Who knows but try it.

Your dream is intruiging...but maybe dreams tend to warn us but we ignore it...some people use dreams to predict the future..or gather info about the sub conscious just like what Carl Jung did. Edgar Cayce too use sleeping to visit other dimensions...

I dream sometimes that turn real in a matter of days or months...

Dreams may or may not turn real...but some dreams become reality...

Sometimes we imagine something happened in the past that is a result of a present circumstance. And we can't quite put our finger on it, creating the feeling of déjà vu. But in your case you have proof since you spoke to your husband about your dream long before the fire, and your husband remembered you talking about it.

That definitely makes your case for time being meaningless in our physical world. All I can say is, wow!

Sorry to hear about the reality of the fire. It's unfortunate that the insurance didn't cover the contents of the house very well.

I once started heating oil in a pan to fry some onions and I walked out of the kitchen and forgot about it. Luckily I suddenly heard a loud pop sound and I ran back into the kitchen to see the fire in the pan. I covered the pan and smothered it before anything caught fire. Evidently the pop sound was the oil igniting. I guess I was lucky, and now I stay in the kitchen when I'm cooking.

Very good hub. In the time space continuum, there exist all the past and future events about everyone of us along with all that has occurred and will occur, but we remember all that which has occurred in the past. There are instances when a person gets a clue about something that will occur in future in a dream. There is sense of Deja vu. There clues one gets in a dream come true.

There are a few highly evolved spiritual persons, who often get clues about future events. They have special sensitivity to sense these clues.

      Thanks for sharing.

I'm sorry about your house. Years ago when I was moving out of my parents' home between the time I was graduating from college and reporting to work at my first professional job, our family home burned. Everyone in the home except my father was spending the night elsewhere. The fire started in the garage adjoining my bedroom -- an explosion that would have killed me. Although everything in my room was charred, a piece of PAPER somehow survived. On it was the Chinese symbol for crisis (two symbols that read danger & opportunity). I had received it weeks earlier for graduation. It was spooky. It was smoke damaged but unharmed and is now framed in my hallway.

That is interesting, Nadine, and it's also scary. Many people's dreams are not predictions of the future. Mine, thankfully, are not, and I'm not sure I could live with them if they were. I see the future sometimes when I'm awake and don't realize that I am seeing the future until it happens. Sometimes it isn't pretty. Does that count?

About your subject, I do believe that time is only for us on earth, and that we have to have the element of time for our awareness in the physical. When we leave earth and our soul travels in other dimensions, like the astral realm, time does not exist. I am sorry that you had to go through this. Thank you for sharing this story with us. I always like to read of other people's adventures in the other realms. Voted you up.

Very thought provoking. Maybe I should keep a dream journal.

Deja vu is part of daily life for me. Sometimes it is good, sometimes not. Mostly good.

It is an ephemeral feeling that can't be described in laymen's terms. I try to explain it this way - that you feel you have left the room mentally while your body stays in place. You get a peek of some fragment or scene that will ultimately cross your path, but you don't know when, where or how. Usually but a few seconds have gone by, not enough to be able to measure it. Sometimes you have perfect recall, and sometimes not.

The older I get, the more deja vu' experiences I have, and the more I am able to hold on to them for longer periods of time in order to pinpoint them so I can recognize the event when it does actually happen.

      Good article!

      Interesting experience.

The idea of parallel universes fascinates me. One story I love reading is 'From the Corner of his Eye' by Dean Koontz. It's superbly written and has its basis in Quantum Physics. Characters have or have not afflictions, have or have not died in these parallel universes. It's also a story of good versus evil and of 'shoving' bad into another parallel world - if only we could! Maybe, just maybe..... !

Well written and explained. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Your thoughts and discussions are always fascinating. It's like being in an advanced college course. It's always a pleasure visiting you, Nadine.
