Living Life Every Moment

Updated on December 11, 2016
Source

This is a poem expressing how we should live life and not rush past through it in a hurry.

Before you know it you just might have breezed pass through life and when you look back and see you will be wondering why you do not live life every moment in the true sense.

We have one life so let us enjoy every moment and stop to enjoy the beauty of life.

When you are young, you will want to grow,

Grow up some more and be a teenager,

You think that teenagers are real cool,

You want to be a teenager going to school.

When you become a teenager,

You want to grow up some more,

Grow up and go to college for sure,

College you think is the only place,

Where life will be fun and fast paced.

You go to college and then you see,

Life is not all fun and carefree,

Important choices in life to be made,

Not a minute to be delayed.

Next is to get a job and earn,

Earn so much to have a car to own,

A house, a villa, a resort one or two,

The latest, greatest in electronics too,

You think this is fun and way too cool.

Then comes marriage, children one or two,

Settling down is all that you want to do,

Now you think, life is being fair,

Letting you have fun, sunshine and fresh air,

You live and dream without a care.

Suddenly, your world turns upside down,

Your body aches and pains, lets you down,

Life becomes a pain and a real misery,

You cannot breathe, you wheeze and sneeze,

Your knees and bones creak and squeak.

Now you are old, sad and not willing to cry,

Thinking of life that has passed you by,

However your thoughts go back in time,

How you were always in a hurry,

Thinking and planning all the time.

Thoughts of regrets, filled with remorse,

You think of many moments that were lost,

Moments not enjoyed, wasted in vain,

You wish you could start all over

Once again,

Are you in a hurry??

You are right we spend our lives hurrying on to the next moment then we get to a certain age and look back and wish we had slowed down and enjoyed the moment we had. Lovely poem voted up and sharing.

I get in a bit of a hurry at times, but I do just stop and enjoy the moment pretty often as well. I owe that to the stories I have paid close attention to of those who wish they had more often. Lovely poem; voted up, useful, and awesome.

I was a very active running about young man and then when I became adult I found out I had many responsibilities in my life to take care of. I started to do many things in moderation. As I grew into a recent senior I now have found total maturity and reflect back on my life and thank my creator for allowing me to reach this plateau of living. Now I scribe with pride and thankfulness. Peace and blessings to you my friend.

I like rushing only to beat time, but it is good to stop every now and then to see the surroundings, and to enjoy the environment, and to feel as if you're actually a free spirit, and free person.

Then suddenly you snap out of that daydream, and back on the treadmill because consequences have added up to you being forced into situations that stress you further. Yup I am definitely someone who's experienced all that you've pointed out, but I have had a differing experience many years back, and even recently.

I meditated for 2 years straight when I was in the US Navy, and it took my mind away from the rat race, and placed it into a different world all together.

Today I own a web designers business, work from home, and I'm definitely not stressed, and so I've learned to slow down to give my life a better out look, and I have a smarter grip on it all today as opposed to years back when I we're young & dumb.

Awesome poem here, this hub brings back many thoughts and recollections for sure, cool stuff!! Vellur

Voted up and awesome. This is a fantastic poem and expresses how we look at life so well. In our younger days we are always in a hurry to get ahead and when mid-life comes we want to go back and begin again.

Five words of wisdom, five words that ask you to slow down, Five words that go deep, think steep and may make us weep. Nithya, your five words ( are you in a hurry?) are the best five words I've heard today. (I did hear better four words - which was #I love you Dad# but that's another story, another poem.

This is awesome, We are always in a hurry to reach the next stage, we always think it will be better than the current one. Then when we rreach old age we wish we were young again with the hindsight to slow down and do it all again differently

You have re-quoted my mother...she always said, "don't wish your life away." Always in a hurry to get to the next stage of your life. This poem should touch the heart of everyone who reads it. Unfortunately, only the older of us will truly appreciate it.

      Voted up and beautiful.

What a contradiction, when you are young, we want to become mature, and when we are old, we want to remain eternally young.

      Just loved your composition.

Oh how much older you have become since you wrote this excellent piece Vellur.. I was determined to be 21 at 12 and 21 at 42... I blamed the watch I wore and gave it away to a young man, who was always late ... sadly the guy I gave it to grew so old that he died and left it to me in his will... I am very quickly reading your poetry... this watch does concern me... I want to be 12 again! :) Nice work and great message... I am sending you a watch in the mail.... take care... PD

This beautiful poem reminds me about an interesting fact about old people who ,before departing the world, expressed some regrets and one of them was that they did not adopt a choice of happiness while living their lives. In this poem, you have truly depicted the unhappiness that one goes through every stage of his/her life but happiness eludes every time. So, time to enjoy the life is now and only now, tomorrow is an illusion. Really enjoyed this wonderful gem.
