Assertive - The Strongest Step Ahead

Updated on May 1, 2017

Be Assertive - Act With Self-esteem

Boldness personified- Assertiveness

Fulminate against iniquity,

succinct expressive,

strive surveillance,

words invasive.

Firmly commanding,

heart is assaultive,

self-possessed confidence,

to be daring decisive.

The Virtue of Being Straight-forward

Assertiveness is the reflection of courage and optimism painted in boldness. But assertiveness is not equivalent to aggressiveness.

"The bid difference between being assertive and being aggressive is how your words and behavior affect the rights and well being of others."

- Sharon Anthony Bower.

The distinction between these two is an important one which I'm glad you've drawn.

Great poetry and important human characteristics that must be understood.

Only an open minded, non judgemental personality can always differentiate, assertiveness with aggressiveness.

Nicely stated and I see nothing wrong with assertiveness. If we do not advocate for ourselves then who will?

Yes, yes, someone needed to write this... to avoid the misconceptions of assertiveness that has sprung up, thus making it - in my view - a negative quality. Perhaps one can say courage, fortitude and optimism ... inner strength and outer confidence ...

      A very meaningful piece.

A lot of people mistake assertiveness with aggressiveness. I dont understand how. Your quote says it all. Assertiveness is revealing your wants and needs while at the same time giving air space and considerations to another's wants and needs.
