Awakening and Metamorphosis

Lisa is a substitute teacher who studies English Literature. She lives to write and is following her dream of becoming a professor.

Living in a herd of sheep

I felt completely desolate

subsisting in my intimate

The derogation of my spirit

Your belittlement

Sharp as arrows

Piercing, seeping

Murky Fugue,

made it, simple to obliterate

Who I was

I became nothing

Falling from grace

Smiling to survive

The mask had become

Part of me

Suddenly a voice

You are free! Run away

unfurl your wings

and fly

Assurance, Boldness

True love

Really did rescue me

Twin flames burned

The inferno away

My demons sought refuge

In his dark places

Holding hands

Blending thoughts

Words of encouragement

I have been found

Alas I have been found.

I felt worthless

Used up

Disfigured, and decayed

I was adrift

In his words

Who knew

what a contrast

instead of mockery

desires become attainable

Applause from the stands

From a man

Who believes in me

Who makes me believe

In myself

An encouraging poem. I am happy for you that your partner has the ability to turn around your self belief. Great message of better times and people to meet.

Such a relief when we can believe in ourselves and when others do as well--great message in this!

This is so beautiful! Finding a true love in the wake of an abusive user. A compelling read....
