Proud Of Being Different

Updated on October 2, 2014

Breaking Away

In our society we try to fit in

From an early age we may be part of a family

Going to school we develop our own group of close friends

That we might do everything together

Soon joining clubs or meeting others who have the same interests

Joining teams in sports or a local church

We find many bonds that help us through our life

Through our toughest times and struggles we may turn for support

Later in life we may find a lover that gives us the same total trust and comfort

When do we celebrate our differences and being unique ?

Do things that are rare

That makes us special and more creative

Over the years we might of had our own style and look

This goes far beyond anyone's imagination

Seeing the world not how it is but how it could be

People making such achievements that until now were left for the rich and famous

The stars and the celebrities

Gypsy Rose Lee I could listen to you talk all day. So many interesting things that the world walks right by. You point out and bring what really is important. Don't stop just take mini breaks that will give you a fresh start. Coming from two cultures you have insight that many other people don't. Without fantasy we can not dream. Without dreams we can not create the impossible. Being close to animals is a wonderful connection that has so many health benefits and rewards to both you and Sid. These are only a few examples that make you so special. Thank you so much for reading and sharing real life as it comes in spurts and is unpredictable many times.

I'm as different as they come. I have two cultures American and Latvian. Half the time I live in a fantasy world to be able to write and create poetry. I really love talking to my cat Sid we have a great relationship. It also makes life so much more exciting.

I love that I am different and have really come a long way to prove to me that I am a positive person. I prefer standing on my own two feet.

shanmarie I often hit areas where I have little or no expertise. So I spend a lot of time reading and learning but while I am doing this progress is slow or non at all. Then work and other responsibilities take over and my thoughts get pushed aside and if I am not careful they will fade away. Other people don't find an interest or care. I am too busy being positive and upbeat to let drugs or bad choices get in my way. Thank you so much for reading and sharing.

I suppose we all draw the line where our own comfort zone ends. I believe in sharing the burdens of others even if all I can do is care by listening and knowing their specific problems to pray about. And I might try a new game or activity, product, etc at the recommendations of othrs. I might even once in a while step outside my comfort zone to see if it helps me grow. On the other hand, I won't do something I know will be harmful or have bad consequences. Drugs, for instance. If you are being you, you are unique.

shanmarie I am not sure where to draw the line. Some people always want to go with the crowd or the trends. I have in the past but now as I get older I want to do things different than everyone else. I don't want to settle for less. Complain about work day after day. I want to dream beyond and find a way to change the world and help others. It is people I care about. Even people I don't even know. Other people just care about their family and a few friends. They live their life and close their eyes to anything they can not do. Thank you for reading and sharing. It means so much to me.

Uniqueness is good. So is leaning on others now and then. If we have our own inner strength, relying on others for support as necessary is not necessarily bad.
