BURNING GHATS

Updated on March 3, 2010

UNSPOKEN THOUGHTS

SHE STOOD TALL AND STRONG UNDER THE HEAT OF THE MID-DAY SUN.

I LOOKED AT HER LONG FOR SOME WEAKNESS BUT THERE WAS NONE.

SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE BIG HOUSE ,ONE COUD NEVER FORGET HER FOR SHE WAS THE ONE.

MARRIED TO THIS MAN FOR YEARS LONG GONE.

ALL THAT WAS THERE OF HIM NOW LAY BARE AND FORGONE.

GONE WAS THE GLORY AND PRIDE ,HAPPY ,DAYS THUS LONG GONE.

IT WAS TIME FOR HIM TO GO ,WOULD SHE FOLLOW HIM OR NONE.

TO THE BURNING GHATS THEY WENT THROWING FLOWERS  HYMS AND CHANTS INTO THE STILL AIR OF THE AFTERNOON SUN.

MOTHER HAS REFUSED TO JOIN FATHER IN THE ETERNAL FIRE SAID THE ELDER SON.

OH; SHE IS STILL THINKING OF LIVING ON ,THOUGHT THE YOUNGER ONE.

FIRES BURNT HIGH ,MOTHER YOU MUST BE TIRED ,GIVE ME THE KEYS YOU WILL BECOME LIGHTER.

SHE LOOKED AT HIM WITH A SAD KNOWING SMILE AND SAID COULDNT YOU WAIT A WHILE LATER.

AS SHE STOOD TALL AND STRONG UNDER THE MID-DAY SUN.

I COULD NEVER FORGET THAT FACE WHICH CARRIED PAST GLORY SO LIGHTLY .

I COULD NEVER FORGET FOR I KNEW SHE WAS THE ONE.
