Bag of Bones by Stephen King

Updated on October 14, 2012

Bag of Bones by Stephen King was an excellent book. I had a friend tell me about it once and bought the book. I was busy at the time and never got around to reading it so I gave it away. Then one day it just happened to find its' way back into my hand (paperback version this time) so I figured it must be meant to be. After the first couple of pages I was hooked.

Watch a trailer about the movie here!

This book is about a man, Mike Noonan, a forty year of best-selling novelist looses his wife. He and his wife had a wonderful life and were very much in love so of course he was devastated. Having writers block, he ends up going back to there summerhouse by the lake that he calls Sarah Laughs to try to write another book. Then he starts hearing noises. He believes it is the ghost of his wife, but little does he know there are other forces at work as well.

After a near accident involving the adorable three-year old Kyra and her beautiful widowed young mother Matte does he start to see something is just not quite right in this lovely little old town.

With the help of his dead wife and other ghost, the story starts to unfold. After several strange events, attacks from ghost, attempts made on his life and others, he discovers the dirty little secret that the whole town has been hiding.

I would love to tell you more, but I'd hate to spoil it for you. This is an all in one package, you have love, loss, love again, ghost, vindictive old millionaire, old secrets, murder, fire, mystery, it's all there.

Buy it unabridged on CD

If you are busy like I am you can also get this book on cd and listen to it while cleaning house or driving to work. I found this is one of the best ways to still get my reading in without actually taking the time to read. ha ha ha. I know that sounds a little weird, but it works.

This is one of my favorite King books! Good review. Did you watch the miniseries last month? It was pretty good.
