Still Be

Updated on July 2, 2014

In a sea of trouble

when the storm threatens to wash you away

still be

for the waves cannot maintain against your will

still be

and don't rock the boat

still be

to stay afloat

Even if it seems that all hope is lost

black sky surrounding you

as thunder bolts are being tossed

made of words like can't cope

stress or grief

no peace

can't live

won't eat

don't care

no sleep

still be

just chill

meaning be cool

or in other words

still be

until you've decided enough is enough

until you've decided that it's not that rough

until you see the sun shine again

when the clouds break and a new day begins

Good "picture" of feelings of frustration and fragmentation, with a way to resolve and smooth it out, get it together again - and with a happy ending. Is is autobiographical or simply observational? :-) Both, maybe? Or none of my business? ;->

      Good work, it IS!

Thank you Nellieanna, definitely both but more autobiographical.

This is both beautiful and necessary. Stillness is an art we have lost as a society, and it's a practice that as individuals, we tend to forget far too often, to our own misery (speaking for myself, anyways). Thank you for reminding me. Also, I loved the end. A new day. A new beginning. The troubles of yesterday wiped from our minds by the blessing of sleep. A sunrise. So much to be thankful for :)

Daunte, I really enjoyed the depth you portrayed here. It reminds me a little of a poem I titled Saving Light which I've featured on my poetry site.

The poem flowed smoothly and drew me to edges of alarm and peace, solely dependent upon the phrase I was reading at the time.
