Beat By A Poodle

Updated on October 12, 2015

You Got To Be Kidding

After thirty years

I started running again

My legs are jello

Just like I remember

Breathing becomes my main focus

I can leave the worries of work behind

The stress of traffic

I feel like eating healthier

No craving for sweets

Slowing down my day

As everyone else gets to go speeding bye

Stretching before and after a run

My muscles are tight

Little by little

I come closer to my toes

Now they are only a mile away from my finger tips

I was running up a hill

A young lady was walking three dogs

One was a tiny little poodle

It took the tinniest steps

No matter how hard my legs pumped

The poodle was faster than me

Swallowing my pride

Reality check

I am no teenager anymore

As the sky turned dark

The rain began to fall

It felt refreshing and soothing

Soon I forgot the poodle

I even forgot I was running

Until a pebble bummed a ride

In my shoe

How uncomfortable I am in seconds

As I stopped to take it out

Now I feel my leg tense up

Finishing up with a slow walk for cool down

I am happy on what I did

I am glad I made the time

To do something good for my body

Later my movements are all in slow motion

Not by choice

My body knows better

I know my limits

Now a night of work before me

I wonder how I will hold up

I have a job to do and I will find a way to do it

annart Time goes by quickly and the years keep adding up. In my mind I keep thinking I was still able to do what I use to do and now my body made it clear oh no you don't. DDE So nice to see you. I hope all is well. I thought exercise in work was enough. I learned you body gets use to it. So you need to go up and beyond. Gypsy Rose Lee I can see you running down the country road and your hair blowing in the wind. I am hoping to find some wind to carry me. I feel tired but a good tired. Thank you all for reading and sharing your personal stories. Walking is also very important if you don't want to jog or run. Make the time for anything. You will be glad you did.

As I read I felt like I was running beside you. Perhaps I will consider running about the country roads we have in the suburbs where we live. Good luck on your running.

It does pay to listen to your body! Good to exercise but take it easy. I find I can't do as much as I want to do, especially when I'm with the grandchildren! A little at a time with healthy eating is the best way - I just wish it didn't take such a long time to get there!

I could feel the pain as you jogged along there and the image of the poodle was great!
