"Beautiful Songs" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Beautiful Songs"

Melodies born every day

Unique waves

Crashing ashore

Sounds like something to live for

Syrup for the ears

Coating the heart

Whistled tunes on a soft summer night

Holding hands under an oak

Overpowering, overloaded

Distorted

Too much to handle

Deafening

Commemorated memories tied to the soul

We laugh at the beautiful songs

Realizing the sirens behind them

Learning and growing

We compose ourselves

We conduct new sounds

Now the maestro

Listening and not being fed orders

We take note of this

Possessing the baton

Poking holes in facade

No price on our art

We are life

We are beautiful songs

Do not be seduced by our chords

Do not wrap them around your neck

For we all deceive

Some more true than others

All capable of lies

Still, melodies are born everyday

Earth the orchestra

We the instruments

There are no wrong notes

Destined players

Musicians creating sonic escapes

Questioning and critiquing God's great Opus

We the beautiful songs

The curtain opens

The show must go on

I love how you describe a relationship with four different outlooks of "Beautiful Songs": Listening, Creating, Possessing, Being. Thank you for a well crafted poem.

Well done Eric, wonderful use of musical terms and a vivid description of the chorus of life.
