Been Awhile

Updated on December 14, 2012

Yes,

time goes by

and I evolved

and relapsed

and collapsed

back into multiple selves

back upon myself

My illusions strengthen

and realities weaken

a shadow is painted and

glistens upon a bright beginning

step back and watch the past unfold

time travels in reverse on this Earth

music finds my ears

after sunset my fears

awaken the deepest

dreads that I seek to destroy

but the process is dreaded

I seek to know my speculations

as personal truths

I long to see your face

instead of the static

I cry to feel your touch

instead of only dream you

please surround me

please overwhelm me

please drown me

in silent confession

in quiet conviction

in peaceful assurance

in sleepless endurance

-Ben

Loved the first stanza in bold letters. sometimes we have to lose ourselves to find our true selves.

Oh Ben; how I have longed for you to write again; these words could pierce through any one soul and touch their heart. You are a magnificent poet.

The ever lasting torment between need and want and what one can't have is wonderful.
