Before 11:00 PM on Saturday

Updated on February 6, 2015

Her luck would hide,

she was found near the beach

during low tide,

a young looking forty three year old,

she was the mother of five,

and it was a little before 11:00 PM on Saturday,

when they last saw her alive,

witnesses said she was near the beach,

putting pride aside,

trying to hitch a ride,

she was a good mother,

she would always care,

that day, she just didn’t have

enough money for the bus fare,

she worked three jobs,

so she could put food on the table,

she was willing and able,

her body was found with blue crabs,

dangling on her feet,

her death was complete,

the paperwork had been filed,

everything complied,

the children were split apart,

they were each called a welfare child,

the system had no heart,

the children had no voice,

and it remained the state’s choice.

Frank, the heartbreak here is palpable. Your title is anonymous enough to hurt! Thank you for caring about this woman enough to share her story.

You know, this is truly deep, sad as life is made into paperwork lost. The very depth in which one life effects so many others. Beautifully sad and yet in the tears left behind, life is remembered.

We are both a product of the same school system...lol. Not understanding is normal. I am a little 'off the beaten path' after all. The fact that you let me explain means we are just taking steps towards a lasting friendship I think. That is an awesome gift that I have to thank you for! -Lissette

Children without a voice, so very sad. I know because I only met one of my half brothers for the first time at the age of 54. A long and sad story

Up and interesting, Poor lady just couldn't take her life the way it was going working 3 jobs. There will be repercussions splitting the children up.
