Before I Go to Sleep

Updated on July 20, 2014

After reading this poem, what do you think of it? ( 5 Stars Being the Best)

See results

At night before I go to sleep
I lay and ponder
I don't count sheep

What's beyond this little room
Prowling the dark
Beneath the moon

Once in a while
The dog will bark
Jolting a thump within my heart

Could it be monsters
Aliens or witches
Maybe the neighbor with knives full of kisses

Maybe a tank is roaming the streets
Kills the invisibles
While I sleep

Maybe a monster
Crawls on the roof
Peers through the blinds and I don't have a clue

Is there a star
exploding in space
while aliens quietly abduct our race

Is there a star
With plants and trees
Are they wondering the same exact thing

Is there a ninja in my tree
Or a monster
waiing for me to take a peek

What if a meteor comes crashing down
During the night we evacuate town
No one wears underwear under their gowns

Is there chip inside me that will deflate and spread
Forcing its ways through my veins
Sewing me to the bed

That chip with all of its wires
Will spiral through my flesh
Leaving me with a tattoo of wires like a robin's nest

Perhaps I should just go to sleep
None of these things are happening
Maybe if I close my eyes

If I do close my eyes for rest
I coud wake up with energized at best, but...
What if tonight, has one of these things
And it happens to bring the end of me

No problem :). I hope that was nice, refreshing time away though.

Like this a lot. Sorry I didn't get here sooner, was off the grid for nearly three weeks and I am just catching up.
