Behind Enemy Lines

Updated on March 28, 2011

Behind Enemy Lines

Can you feel them watching you?

Studying you?

Your every step and every move

Cold eyes burning into you

Muscles tensing through your body

Every laugh

Whispered comments

You know they are talking about you

Seemingly unreasonable fear

Surging through your body

Is it getting hot in here?

Nonsensical words being thrown from all directions

Think fast and don't give wrong answers to any of their questions

Because they are judging you

Coursing in and out relentless voices and snide remarks

That may never have been said

Spinning, whirling, twirling through your head

Unfamiliar places filled with unfamiliar faces

All eyes on you

All minds on you

All the talk about you

If I am not your friend then surely I must be your enemy?

I'll be watching you

Paranoia

An Inner Demon that we all must face. Playing on our insecurities. The feeling of being constantly studied and probed by the people that surround us. Walking past a group of people and hearing one of them laugh, then assuming they were laughing at you. If this is you, you are not alone.

The more they talk about you, the more you must be worth their attention; what a compliment! Better to stand out, be talked about & noticed than be nothing more than a figure in the background; a nobody!

Nicely written. Definitely brings to the forefront of the mind that feeling of paranoia which I think everyone experiences at some point in time in their life or other. Keep up the good work! Poetry that can be felt is always awesome! :)
